Dead Prez turns down Roc Nation

Jay-Z has spent most of his time since The Blueprint 3 building his Roc Nation label. He was initially promoting J. Cole, but he soon added Willow Smith to the label. Soon after landing the young Smith, she posted a hit. While she was making hits, Jay-Z was signing Jay Electronica to Roc Nation.

Ever since he left Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam to create Roc Nation, there have been rumors of many artists signing there. Initial rumors stated Beyonce, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, the entire roster of the old Roc-A-Fella Records, and Nas would end up signed to the label. This has yet to take place, but Roc Nation is growing.

Recently, there have been rumors of Dead Prez signing with the label. While they have great respect for Jay-Z and Roc Nation, the duo has no interest in joining the label. M1 said they would like to work with many of Roc Nation's artists without actually giving up their rings. Dead Prez loves the idea of working as they please on an independent basis.
