Many have chosen Kendrick Lamar as the future of West Coast hip hop. Following years of struggling, outside of the success of Snoop Dogg and Game, he has breathed new life into the West. It is because of this, Kendrick Lamar has been hyped as the next big thing.

Signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, Kendrick Lamar is working hard to ensure he is on top. Recently, the rising star sat down and spoke with Snoop Dogg's Double G News Network. He discussed a wide range of topics. Kendrick Lamar is among the most-ambitious new stars in the game.

When he was asked about the future of rap, Kendrick Lamar said his goal is to bring the West back. Ever since the demise of the Death Row movement, the only West Coast rappers to have success were Snoop Dogg, Game, and Dr. Dre. New artists from the West have had trouble breaking into the game. Kendrick Lamar hopes to usher in a new movement, changing those facts along the way.

Kendrick Lamar said it is not all on his shoulders. Other players to look out for are Jay Rock, Dom Kennedy, and Nipsey Hussle. He feels he, along with the other rappers mentioned can bring back the G era in hip hop. While talking to Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar said another thing needed in order for things to work out West, they will need unity. Snoop Dogg told him the veterans are basically done with the game and ready to move on, opening the door for Kendrick Lamar and others.

When speaking on his relationship with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar said Paul Rosenberg discovered his song, "Ignorance is Bliss." When he heard the song, Rosenberg contacted Kendrick Lamar and then introduced him to Dr. Dre. Having been affiliated with Dr. Dre for so long, he has become a mentor, of sorts, to Kendrick Lamar.
