During the 1990s, people realized just how lucrative hip hop could be. Not only were rappers making millions off their music, but they also branched out into other ventures. DMX was one of the biggest new stars of this time period.

While he was on top of the game, DMX was idolized by many young men. Among the people who looked up to DMX was current star, Kendrick Lamar. He admitted X's debut album, the classic It's Dark and Hell is Hot, led him to rap.

Initially, he rapped off the album and then Kendrick Lamar began making his own music. Kendrick Lamar also discussed former DMX ally and current foe, Jay-Z. Earlier this month, Jay-Z and Kanye West released Watch the Throne.

Kendrick Lamar said he could not even deny that he likes the album. While he cannot relate to the album, the popular Compton rapper said he does understand it. During his interview with Hot 97.5, Kendrick Lamar also discussed his own debut album. Still without a name, he said he would like to record the album and not have any collaborations.

The reason he wants no guest appearances is because he wants to tell his story and have it all make sense.
