Earlier this year, Common was invited in the White House and the invite came under fire. Conservatives at Fox News angrily spoke out about this. Despite being known as a socially-concious rapper, the network labeled him as a "gangsta rapper."

Even as all of this went on, Common remained silent. For weeks, the debate continued. Many in the black community angrily spoke out. Because of the comments being made by Fox News, many called them racist.

Months after the controversy, Common has finally spoke out on the issues, as a whole. Common said racism still exists in the United States, whether the people want to admit it or not. The rapper also spoke on his police brutality comments, saying he was mis-quoted, as he would never endorse the killing of anyone.
