Redman discusses State of New Jersey rap
By The Hip Hop Writer

The New Jersey hip hop scene has been under the shadow of New York hip hop ever since the start. The few New Jersey artists who have made it, blended in with the New York rap scene. Redman has always represented New Jersey, but the casual fan would mistake him for a New York rapper.
While Red has all of the love in the world for New York hip hop, he wants his own people to show up. There are only two rappers actively holding New Jersey down. Redman is one of them and the other one is Joe Budden. While Redman is enjoying the music, he thinks they need some help.
Recently, Redman posted a "Help Wanted" sign online asking of some New Jersey rappers to step their game up. Redman said there is plenty of room for more New Jersey rappers. While there are some rappers from New Jersey, the rap market there is not taken seriously and it is often merged into New York rap. Redman wants this to change and for New Jersey to be taken seriously in its own right.
Redman wants all of the New Jersey rappers out there to go ahead and get noticed to they can help put the state on the map.
