When Diddy moved Bad Boy Records over to Interscope Records during the fall of 2009, Gorilla Zoe was among the artists who ended up falling to the wayside. Having spent his entire career, up to that time, with Bad Boy, Gorilla Zoe was a bit worried about his next move.
Absorbed into the mainstream Atlantic Records label, Gorilla Zoe began recording new music. Initially, the rapper intended to release his next album, King Kong, in October 2010. But, the album was repeatedly delayed and almost forgotten. Gorilla Zoe had left Atlantic for a deal with eOne, but they have a distribution deal with Atlantic.
Gorilla Zoe is hoping to gain the momentum he had with his 2009 single, "Lost," which featured Lil Wayne. The album will be his first album without help from Diddy. While Bad Boy is out of the equation, the Atlanta rapper is still signed to Block Entertainment. The new album, King Kong, will be released on March 22, 2011 through Block/eOne/Atlantic.
