Birdman responds to Jay-Z diss

Following Jay-Z's 2006 comeback, he received a flurry of disses from Lil Wayne. Wayne had left the mainstream rap game and took over the mixtape scene. Many people were considering Wayne on the same level of Jay-Z.

Upon returning to the game, Jay-Z surprised fans when he invited Lil Wayne to record with him on his homage to Brooklyn, "Hello Brooklyn 2.0." The song was among the most popular on his comeback album, American Gangster.

In 2008, Lil Wayne returned the favor and featured Jay-Z on his single, "Mr. Carter." Jay-Z seemingly passed the baton to Wayne on the song. But, since the recording of "Mr. Carter," the two have not made many appearances together on songs. With Wayne now considered one of the top hip hop executives, Birdman began challenging Jay-Z.

First, Birdman said The Blueprint 3 was not the album of the year in 2009, citing the record sales of the 2008 Lil Wayne album, Tha Carter III. Despite all of the money Jay-Z has made in the rap game, Birdman also began saying he and Lil Wayne were worth much more. In recent years, Cash Money Records has been making more money, but still not on the level of Jay-Z. Tired of all of the digs, Jay-Z took a shot at Birdman on his "H.A.M." single with Kanye West.

In the song, Jay-Z raps about "baby money" and boasts that his girl (Beyonce) makes more money than most of the rappers who claim to be so rich. The song has been out for nearly a month and Birdman has finally taken the time to listen to the lyrics. He realizes the song is taking aim at his crew and he has decided to respond. In a non-confrontational tone, Birdman said they will continue to spend their "baby money" as they continue to make "baby money."
