Can Ja Rule pull off an Eminem?

In 1999, hip hop was introduced to two of the biggest artists of the 21st century when Eminem and Ja Rule debuted. Eminem was the first artist signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and Ja Rule was Jay-Z's sidekick, signed to Def Jam. Because of their connections, hip hop quickly embraced the two rappers.

For years, Ja Rule and Eminem coexisted, even having mutual respect. But, when Eminem opened the door for 50 Cent to enter the game, Ja Rule waged an all-out war with Em. Sadly, the war was lost badly by Rule's team. Eminem was also affected by the feud, taking time off from rap. Ja Rule also took time off.

Ja Rule returned in 2007 intending on taking the game back over, having the support of the media. But, for unknown reasons, Universal Records refused to release the comeback album from Ja Rule. Soon, he decided to leave the label and he began putting the comeback together, himself. Meanwhile, Eminem returned after a five year break and was back on top of the game, from a commercial standpoint. A year later, Eminem would win the critics back over and now he is dominating the rap world.

Of course, Ja Rule's break from the game was not like Eminem's. But, years have passed since Ja ruled the rap game. His break has lasted longer than his actual run on the top. The same was the case for Eminem two years ago, but he was able to return to the game and dominate. Ja Rule is planning to finally release his new album this summer, will he be able to rebuild his career the way Eminem did?
