With Def Jam currently in rebuilding mode, one of their new big stars is Big K.R.I.T. Last summer, the up-and-comer was signed to Def Jam. One year later, his debut album was completed and ready for release. Big K.R.I.T. has decided to name his album Live From the Underground.

Discussing the title of the album, Big K.R.I.T. said it reflects his state of mind. Even though he is now with Def Jam, K.R.I.T. still feels like an independent artist. Big K.R.I.T. said the music he wants to make is underground Southern hip hop music. He said his new album will remind fans of Return of 4Eva.

Many people did not realize Big K.R.I.T. released 4Eva while signed to Def Jam. Moving forward, his official debut album will be released on the same day as Cole World: The Sideline Story, J. Cole's debut album. Opting to refrain from competition, K.R.I.T. said he was very excited for hip hop and for J. Cole, as this will be a very big day for everyone concerned.
