Lil Wayne discusses Drake's "Take Care"

With Tha Carter IV finally being released, Lil Wayne is now on his mogul status. Currently, Young Money is focused on the release of Take Care, the second album from Drake. Until the album comes out, Drake is keeping things under wraps.
Among the people who have had the chance to hear the new music from Drake is Lil Wayne. Obviously, as the boss of the label Drake records for, Lil Wayne would hear his new music. It was last year when Wayne revealed he did not hear Drake's debut album.
Lil Wayne is in on the ground floor for Drake's second album and he is impressed with the album. However, Wayne admitted he has not heard the entire album. But, of what he heard of the new album, Lil Wayne did enjoy it. Read more...

Is Rick Ross pushing himself Too Hard?

Over the past five years, Rick Ross has been delivering new music to the world. Through this period of time, Ross has delivered hits on a frequent basis. All this hard work has paid off, as Rick Ross is considered one of the biggest rappers in the game.
With this title, Rick Ross is constantly in the news, which is how people were able to follow his health over the past few days. Rick Ross, who is currently on tour, suffered a seizure while boarding a plane from his native Florida to Memphis. Determined to perform, he continued his flight.
After sharing a video, which celebrated his recovery, Rick Ross suffered from another seizure. Elise Neal, of "The Hughleys" and "All of Us" fame, who also dated Rick Ross, said he was being pushed too hard. Neal pointed out Rick Ross' age, thirty-five-years-old. Rick Ross' time in the spotlight does not match how long he has truly been in the game. Rick Ross has been rapping ever since 2002, starting his career with Suave House Records. Soon, Ross left the label and joined Slip-N-Slide Records, best-known for boasting Trick Daddy and Trina.
During the early 2000s, Rick Ross had already become a legend in the streets. His music did very well on the street level. In the eyes of many, Rick Ross had already "made it." Rick Ross contributed verses on albums, which were sold around the world, by Trick Daddy and Trina. While all this was great and Rick Ross was a major local rapper, he wanted much more. In 2005, Rick Ross caught the attention of several executives in the industry, including Diddy, Jay-Z, and Irv Gotti. Each mogul wanted to bring Ross in to revive the Southern branch of each of their labels.
In the end, Rick Ross chose to sign with Def Jam and work under Jay-Z's guidance. Before he became one of hip hop's biggest moguls, Jay-Z was the biggest rapper on Def Jam. Not a year went by, between 1997 and 2003, without Jay-Z releasing a new album. Jay-Z advised Rick Ross to do this, in order to keep himself relevant. In 2006, Rick Ross released Port of Miami, through Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam, gaining the attention of the entire hip hop world. However, still Rick Ross was viewed as more of a regional rapper. At this point, it seemed as if Rick Ross had achieved his dreams, being one of Miami's top acts and having fame outside his hometown.
Still, the mission was not complete, as Rick Ross worked to become one of the biggest rappers in the nation, following his Trilla album. During this time, Rick Ross dealt with his album being pushed back in order to make room for Plies. Rick Ross faded into the background for most of 2007, appearing in music videos, primarily. But, Rick Ross soon provided an anthem the world could vibe to, "The Boss," which featured the then-popular, T-Pain. With this buzz, Rick Ross received more invites to all the top networks, gaining regular rotation status on BET, MTV, and other outlets.
Around this time, 50 Cent began taking shots at DJ Khaled, who had been serving as the official DJ for years for Rick Ross. In 2007, DJ Khaled's career took off and he helped Miami become the biggest hip hop scene in the South. For years, 50 Cent and G-Unit had dominated the hip hop scene and now Miami was taking over the game, under Khaled's guidance. 50 Cent had warned Rick Ross about hanging so closely with the movement, which also included Lil Wayne and Birdman. In 2009, Rick Ross shocked the hip hop world when he first dissed 50 Cent.
Surprisingly, Rick Ross was declared the winner against the notorious battle rapper, 50 Cent. In 2010, he took his career to the next level, officially becoming one of the biggest rappers in the game. Rick Ross boasted collaborations with Drake, Styles P, and other power-players in the rap game. While Ross was dominating the game, he still was not viewed as number one, which is what he desperately wanted. At the start of 2011, Rick Ross announced he would be taking the game over. Without a song of his own, Ross was able to do this, being featured on a number of tracks by hip hop's elite.
Perhaps Rick Ross' most impressive feat was adding the number of artists to his Maybach Music imprint without the backing of a major label. A bidding war ensued between several labels and Rick Ross landed a new deal for his label at Warner Bros. Records. After dominating the summer and continuing to push his crew, Maybach Music, Rick Ross began pushing his own new project, God Forgives, I Don't. Since his commercial debut, in 2006, Rick Ross has not taken any time off. Being on the go, consistently, for five years is not good for anyone.
While Rick Ross has achieved the fortune and the fame, he also suffered two seizures in the same day, which obviously is not healthy. Some people can go for years, and continue pushing, but for others it can be a strain. Is Rick Ross pushing himself too hard? Read more...

Drake speaks on His Part in Lil Wayne vs. Jay-Z feud and being dissed by Pusha T

In the days before Tha Carter IV was released, fans were floored by "It's Good." The track features Jadakiss and Drake rapping tough-guy lyrics. After their verses, Lil Wayne closes the song. His verse contains disses aimed at Jay-Z in response to his "baby money" diss aimed at Birdman on "H.A.M."
During his interview with Funkmaster Flex, Drake discussed the song, in-depth. Previously, Drake stated he had no parts in the diss on Jay-Z. But, with Flex, Drake admitted he heard the song before it leaked. However, he said all he did was rap his verse over the beat and then Lil Wayne did his verse.
Drake went on to say he is a soldier for Lil Wayne and respects his comments about him. Speaking on the "It's Good track," he said Lil Wayne did what he had to do. Still, Drake said he has nothing but love and respect for Jay-Z. Drake discussed how "H.A.M." was directed at Birdman, and credited Jay-Z as his mentor and Wayne as his brother, separating himself from the situation.
There is a potential situation between Drake and Pusha T. Recently, Pusha T mentioned Drake on his new track, "Don't Fuck with Me." Many feel Pusha T dissed Drake on the song. After listening to the song, several times, Drake said he could not find the diss. Because he has never met Pusha T, Drake said if he did diss him, it is an internal problem with Pusha and not his problem. Drake went on to say he is a fan of The Clipse and said if Pusha T was calling him out, he should make it more direct next time.

Nicki Minaj the subject of Drake's "Make Me Proud" [AUDIO]

Well over a year ago, Drake proclaimed his love for Nicki Minaj on record. The two were even married for a day. Nicki Minaj claimed Drake was only joking about his love for her. But, earlier today, Drake said Nicki is possibly the only woman who could love him.
Regardless of Nicki's feelings, Drake bigs her up on his latest Take Care leak, "Make Me Proud." Drake said the song is for women, as a whole, to show his appreciation. The song is a different way for Drake to express his affection for beautiful women.
Drake said it is hard to be a woman out there, now-a-days, so the record is him saying he appreciates the women for trying. It is especially hard for the pretty and independent women, much like Nicki. Drake said the record is not just for Nicki Minaj, but all women trying to go after something on their own. Drake is proud of any woman he has ever known for doing their thing.
Drake will be performing "Make Me Proud" on October 15 on "Saturday Night Live."

Andre 3000 to assist Drake on "Take Care"

When Drake was recording Thank Me Later, he reached out to several veteran artists. Initially, a collaboration with Sade was announced. Sade eventually informed the people no collaboration between she and Drake would take place.
Drake also reached out to Andre 3000, who turned him down. Despite turning Drake down, Andre 3000 remained a supporter of him. Drake is putting the finishing touches on his second album, Take Care, one year later. With Noah "40" Shebib, Drake has been in the studio for months.
40 recently revealed Andre 3000 was contacted about being a part of Take Care and he agreed to be on the album. Drake's new album now boasts collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Andre 3000, while he is hoping for more legendary input. Read more...

The year of 2009 was one of transition for hip hop. For the past five years, rappers relied less and less on lyrics. Socially, hip hop had grown used to several couples, many of which, broke up. Chris Brown and Rihanna, while R&B and Pop artists, respectively, are a part of the hip hop community.
For two years, they had been publicly dating and appeared to be the model teenage couple. However, the two actually had an abusive relationship, which the whole world learned of. A public fight on the day of the Grammys forced Chris Brown and Rihanna to break up.
Moving on from Chris Brown, Rihanna began dating mixtape rapper, Drake. At the time, Drake was probably best-known for his role on "Degrassi." Drake was being courted by several labels and close to signing with Young Money. While his career took off, his relationship with Rihanna did not.
Drake said he would never blame what happened between them on Rihanna, but he was hurt when he realized it was not a deep relationship. Rihanna was the first famous female to pay any attention to Drake and he was drawn by that. When he began to realize what their relationship actually was, a rebound, it hurt him, but he was able to move forward. Drake said he used to see her in magazines, when he was still new to the game, and they met during a birthday party.
After moving on from Rihanna, Drake rapped about his love for Nicki Minaj on "Miss Me." Last year, the two were married for a day. Future speaks on Debut Album

The year of 2011 has been a renaissance for hip hop, as a whole. It has been a great year for the West Coast, New York has been on the comeback trail, as has Atlanta. Future is among the new talent from Atlanta. He rose to fame back in May with his "Tony Montana" single.
Future quickly became one of the hottest rappers in the game and he is using this to his advantage. With L.A. Reid joining Epic Records, he is focusing back on the hip hop market. Future was among the first artist L.A. Reid signed to Epic Records.
Before he was signed to Epic Records, Future was pushing his own mixtapes in the streets. His Streets Calling mixtape led to his successful "Tony Montana" single, which led to his deal. Future is living up to his name, as he has started his debut album.
Naming the album Pluto, Future said it will bridge the gap from his first mixtape to his last mixtape. One new track from Future is "Magic." The song gained fame when T.I. jumped on the remix. DJ Drama, an affiliate of both, helped this remix come together. Regardless of how it happened, Future is glad it did, as even more people are waiting on more music from him. Read more...
Drake talks Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj on "Big Boy's Neighborhood"

When Lil Wayne was in prison, he turned to Drake to keep his label in the spotlight. The summer of 2010 was dominated by Drake, who quickly passed the baton to Nicki Minaj. The fall of 2010 and into early 2011 was dominated by Nicki.
Discussing his Young Money label-mates, the aforementioned Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, Drake said they are icons. Their fans often emulate their styles. While Drake is popular, he said he is an individual, while Wayne and Nicki are characters.
Lil Wayne released Tha Carter IV in August and the album is well on its way to double platinum status. Drake spoke on this, too, saying he was far from surprised. Speaking on the sales, Drake said he knew the album would do well.

Drake is putting the finishing touches on "Take Care"

Fresh off the mixtape scene, Drake headed straight over to Young Money. After being signed to the label for a year, Drake released Thank Me Later, living up to the hype. Fans immediately wanted to hear more from Drake.
A little over a year later, Drake is preparing to release his second album, Take Care. Drake said his second album was inspired by Lil Wayne. Speaking on Lil Wayne, Drake said it was a major blow to Young Money when he went to prison, but he was glad he and Nicki Minaj were able to keep things going during Wayne's time away.
While recording this album, Drake has been with Lil Wayne and his work ethic has inspired him to go ten times harder than his hardest. Drake said he has enjoyed recording Take Care alongside his brothers, Wayne and Rick Ross. Speaking on his brothers, Drake said they work non-stop, so if he decides to have a little fun, it feels like he is slipping. In New York City, Drake is currently mastering his new album and talking with his team about the final product.

When he first arrived in the game, Rick Ross declared he was the boss. While his music was popular, in the South, many argued Ross was not even the biggest figure in Miami. Trick Daddy still held the title, but not for much longer. Rick Ross established his position in the game with 2008's Trilla.
In 2009, Rick Ross made a gutsy move when he dissed 50 Cent, the bully of the hip hop game. 50 Cent was primarily known, in the beef arena, for ending Ja Rule's career. When 50 Cent began dissing Ja Rule, he was the biggest rapper in the game. Rick Ross still went at 50 Cent and ended up winning the beef.
Two years later, Rick Ross is now seen as the boss of the rap game, getting just as much radio play as Lil Wayne. Last year, Ross had a number of hits. His most-known was "B.M.F.," last summer, which sparked a beef with Young Jeezy. The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, who produced his Drake-assisted crossover hit, "Aston Martin Music," are producing for this album.
The duo discussed Rick Ross' God Forgives, I Don't album, saying many feel as if Rick Ross has already reached his peak. Drake featuring Kendrick Lamar on "Club Paradise" tour

Late in the summer, Drake began introducing his fans to Take Care. While there has been so much discussion about the album, the actual songs have been kept under wraps. Towards the end of the summer, the lead single, "Headlines," leaked followed by "Club Paradise" and "Free Spirit."
While "Headlines" rose to the top of the charts, "Club Paradise" has built a strong following online. The song has become so popular, Drake has decided to name his tour after the song. A short, six-date tour, Drake is going to be touring with Kendrick Lamar. As a part of the "New West," K. Dot has built a large fan base.
The tour starts in Columbus, Ohio on November 9, 2011.
