J-Slimmm taking career to the Next Level

The past few months have been incredible for J-Slimmm. The Street Kingz CEO has been moving at a rapid pace. With Baton Rouge already dominated by Street Kingz Entertainment, J-Slimmm has radio rotation all the way in Virginia. Things have been going strong, but there are still more projects in the works.

Aside from the new music projects, J-Slimmm has been approached by a few major record labels. While hoping to maintain independence, J-Slimmm is hoping to find the right deal. To J-Slimmm, the right deal will be full distribution for both his music and for his entire label. Aside from his own works, with his songs gaining radio play, J-Slimmm has also been focused on developing Dangerous D. Regardless of what happens with the major labels, J-Slimmm intends to continue developing artists.

J-Slimmm has maintained his focus and is now focused on taking his movement to the next level.

Hottie of the Week: Pairee

Many components make up the hip hop game. Most only think of the rappers who drive the hip hop industry. But, when an entire production is being made, there is so much more than what meets the eye. Even some of what meets the eye is overlooked by many.

Pairee is among the members of the hip hop industry often seen, yet still overlooked. With dreams of modeling, Pairee is actively pursuing her dream. Currently, she is signed to Street Kingz Entertainment and will soon be in videos.

Now a part of one of the biggest movements in Baton Rouge, Pairee is very excited. Until her career takes off, Pairee is going to nursing school. While she is confident she will one day become a force in the industry, she has a solid back up plan.

Hip Hop Vibe spoke with the confident Street Queen earlier today. Read the full interview below:

How long have you been modeling?

I actually started modeling in high school during my freshman/sophomore year for a department store called the Bon Marche', located in Seattle, Washington. It was an unpaid modeling intership, if you will. We helped set up events and fashion shows. I was also able to model in some the fashion shows. There was one in particular, called the "Back to School" fashion show. They provided make-up, outfit changes, and cat walk intructions. We did it just like the professionals.

What was it like growing up in Seattle?

Seattle is like a second home to me, I was born in Baton Rogue, Louisiana. We relocated when I was seven years old. Seattle was a great place to grow up, it had many opportunites and challenges. It molded me into who I am today.

Is there much of a difference between Seattle and Baton Rogue?
Yes! Seattle is a fast-paced growing city and always is on the go. Baton Rogue is more laid back and is steady growing, but it has it's Southern drawl that makes you feel right at home with Grandma or Grandpa. Both cities are home and there is nothing like home.

Do you have any gig's coming up?
Yes, I have a couple of things in the works. I have a photo shoot, titled "Gemini Shoot," which is also a 12 month calendar featuring yours truly, as well as some video shoots, just to name a few.

What was your feeling when you were informed you were added to SKE?
My feeling(s) you mean, because I had a lot of emotions going on all at once. I was very skeptical at first and then I did some more research even after everything was official, but overall I was very excited, nervous, ready, inspired, shocked, and thought to self this could possibly be a DREAM come true.

Will you be in the upcoming videos?
Yes, I will be working with J. Slimm, the head of SKE. He has a video called "Make a Flick" off of his upcoming mixtape. I also will be working with Anthony Droze and Marcus Dearbone, to name a few.

You are also studying to become a nurse correct?
Yes, that is correct. I am looking forward to reaching that desired dream as well.

What advice would you offer to younger models coming up?
Please do your research if you are ever approached by any type of agency, or entertainment company. Have self respect, because if you have respect for self, no one else can disrespect you or try to get over. Also, make sure you are comfortable with any and all projects: photo shoots, music videos etc. that you are involved in. Last, but not least, have fun and never let any one tell you that you CAN'T, always know that you CAN. You can do anything your creative mind allows.

How important do you believe education is for aspiring entertainers and people as a whole?
Education is very important. At the same time it isnt for everyone, but with out it you face a lot of challenges, such as people doubting your intelligence or creativity. It's also a great back up tool to have if the industry fails you, because nothing is promised. It's either a blessing or a golden opportunity in life, so always have a plan A. Education and a plan B. Goal or dream to pursue in life.

When will people begin seeing your work appear?

Very soon! My calendar/Gemini shoot doesn't have an official date set yet, but this is just the beginning so STAY TUNED!! It's going to be a great show.

J-Slimmm lands role with "Tony King is Funny" on The CW

During his interview with Hip Hop Vibe, J-Slimmm promised to have big things on the way. The self-proclaimed Street King was not exaggerating. Having been on the underground for years, J-Slimmm feels his time has come.

Currently, the Street Kingz CEO is organizing a tour and is collaborating with other artists. With everything going his way, J-Slimmm has decided to push into television on the new CW series, "Tony King is Funny." The show will broadcast all over the country.

J-Slimmm has been working his way up, being interviewed by select magazines and he is now going national. Going national is good, but not good enough for J-Slimmm. As he stated several times during the interview, he wants to have an international following. He knows the music from him and his label is just that good.

On the Rise: Joey T. Quincy

The Louisiana hip hop scene is known for powerhouse labels, such as No Limit Records and the current hip hop-leading label, Cash Money Records. While Cash Money is dominating the radio waves, there are other independent record labels in the area.

Joey T. Quincy is the head of a new movement in Louisiana, Street Kingz Entertainment. Quincy is not only the CEO of the label, he is also the flagship artist. Not like most rappers with labels, Quincy has a roster full of talent and he is ready to show them to the world.

Recently, Hip Hop Vibe caught up with Joey T. Quincy and he gave us an interview over the phone. In the interview, Quincy discussed several of his upcoming projects and how he handles his life and his business.

"I don't just have dreams, I go out and get 'em" - Joey T. Quincy.

What made you interested in music?
I've been on the scene for four years as an artist on an unsuccessful record label, so I did what was best for myself on a personal and professional level, I launched my own label.

So, you are an artist also?
Yeah, I'm a rapper and I also run a record label. Street Kingz Entertainment has a full roster of talent, including rappers and an R&B singer.

Have you released any albums to date?
No, I have not released any albums yet, but I do have a mixtape out.

Tell us more about Street Kingz Entertainment?
The Street Kingz label was born when I left my old record label and I left, along with two other artists who were signed to the label. Once I set things up, I signed those artists to my Street Kingz Entertainment label.

Who are the other artists signed to Street Kingz Entertainment?
Epic, Dangerous D, Craze-Boi, Q-Tee, and myself under the name J-Slimmm. I have the three m's because I am just that good.

Is it hard managing your own career and running a full label?
At times, it can be hard, but I have a lot of hustle and determination. I have met a lot of people and I will not stop. I know where I want to go and I will not stop until I get there. In order to get what you want out of life, you have to go through struggles, so I welcome the challenge.

Do you feel pressure from the No Limit and Cash Money movements?
No, because I believe in our own talent and our determination. If we had the kind of exposure those two labels have had, we would be dominating the game right now.

How do you go about exposing the Street Kingz music?
I test the music out on all genres. Sometimes, I even play some of our songs for senior citizens and they have embraced the movement. Street Kingz is much more than a rap label, we do it all.

How do you plan on going international?
By using different promotions and branching out into different genres. We also advertise on magazines and I do everything in between to make sure Street Kingz reaches a new fan each day. Truth be told, I'm a hustler.

Have you run across any heavy hitters?
Actually, I have. I work at a casino, so I run into celebrities all of the time. Over the years, I have met Juvenile, Katt Williams, Mystikal, and DeRay Williams. After meeting Katt Williams, we recorded together and he is a funny person on and off the camera. Through hard work and networking, I have met plenty of people, big names and minor ones.

Where do you intend for Street Kingz Entertainment to be ten years from now?
Everywhere. I want to expand into owning restaurants, having clothing lines, and having an overall entertainment company. I see myself as a Russell Simmons-type figure.
