40 Glocc changes name to Big Bad 40
Recently, 40 Glocc got into a bit of trouble with the law due to his gang affiliation with the Crips. Their entire operation in San Bernadino County was shut down. Throughout his career, 40 Glocc has left it as no secret about his gangster lifestyle. His name is after a pistol, but he has the two c's at the end to show his gang.
Having such a name is a great way to market a service to the fans, but his name will limit him going forward. Being named after a pistol is not a good way to pitch a video to MTV. Plus, with G-Unit Records moving over to Def Jam and 40 Glocc working on a new album, change had to come. 50 Cent convinced 40 to change his name.
Because of his name and his criminal activity, 40 Glocc has become a target by police officers. He cannot make too many moves before the police come after him. It has been this way for 40 Glocc ever since he landed his first record deal. Despite being signed to a label, 40 never gave up his gang lifestyle.
In fact, being a rapper has only added to it. 40 Glocc joined 50 Cent in his feud with Young Buck last fall and brought up their gang ties. For years, Young Buck has claimed to be a member of the Crips gang. The gang originated in California and 40 Glocc is a member of the original gang. When the two first met, 40 Glocc asked him questions about the Crips and Buck was unable to properly answer him. During their feud, 40 called him out for not being a real Crip. He also threatened to have the real Crips go after him.
Now a member of the legendary Def Jam label, 40 Glocc has decided to tone things down a bit. He has removed all gang ties from his name. In addition to removing the gang ties, he has also gotten rid of the gun references. From this point on, 40 Glocc will now be referred to as Big Bad 40.
