Rick Ross' "Teflon Don" pushed back Again
Last year, Rick Ross declared his victory over 50 Cent in their high-profile feud. After winning his first feud, Ross said it was time for him to record a classic album. In the fall of 2009, Rick Ross announced his next album would be titled Teflon Don. He said he wanted to set all types of records with this album. Ross predicted the album to sell over 11 million copies.
Earlier this year, he released the lead single, "Super High," and it has been highly popular. However, it has only managed to break into the Billboard Hot 100 at number 100. It is only a top 20 single on the rap charts. Because the song has not done as well as expected, the album has suffered from push-backs. The album was originally set for a June release.
The album was set to be released today, but it was pushed back to avoid conflict with Plies' album. Later, the album was set to face-off with Drake on June 15. Def Jam realized Rick Ross would suffer because of this and the album was again pushed back to June 29. Later, it was revealed the album was pushed back an additional week to July 6. Just as the album had been said to have no more push-backs, the album has been pushed back again.
However, this time, the album has been pushed back to give Rick Ross time to release another single off of the album before it is actually released to the public. The plan is for the next single to actually be a hit, so there can be momentum for Ross when he does release Teflon Don. The next single has not been selected yet, but it will come out before the end of this month. The actual album, Teflon Don, will be released on July 20, 2010.
