For over a decade, Eminem has been in charge of his own record label, Shady Records. Throughout his career, Eminem has been signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and only promotes his Shady imprint. Over the years, his label has become a force outside of Dr. Dre's influence.
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager, announced the intention to revamp the label in the near future. Many of the artists who have been signed to the label left. Obie Trice and Bobby Creekwater are among the artists who have left the label. For a few years, the label was dormant, while Eminem was on hiatus.
50 Cent was the last Shady Records artist to release an album with 2009's Before I Self Destruct and it was a disappointment. Due to the sales, 50 Cent left Interscope, thus leaving Shady Records, as well. Eminem had a dominant 2010 and he used this influence to expand the roster of his label.
Eminem managed to sign Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse, Royce da 5'9, and he is planning a D12 comeback album. With everything going on, Eminem hopes 2011 will be the year in which Shady Records is revived and will run without his constant input. Eminem is currently working with Royce da 5'9 on an EP and Royce is also working with Slaughterhouse on their Shady Records debut. Despite what the critics say, Royce promises the album is real and will be here soon.
