Earlier this year, Freddie Gibbs signed with CTE, Young Jeezy's record label. For the first half of the year, Freddie Gibbs has been traveling and recording with Young Jeezy. As a result of them spending so much time together, the two have become close friends.

Recently, Freddie Gibbs discussed his relationship with his new boss. On his time with Young Jeezy, Freddie Gibbs said it has been cool being right beside him. The main thing Freddie Gibbs likes about being with Young Jeezy is the freedom. He is still allowed to do what he wants, despite being signed.

While he is working on his Cold Day in Hell mixtape, Gibbs said the focus of the crew is Thug Motivation 103. After three years, Young Jeezy is finally ready to release his fourth studio album. But, while they wait for an official release date from Def Jam, Freddie Gibbs has been working on his mixtape, retaining full creative control.

Def Jam denies Young Jeezy release date

Last week, Young Jeezy fans thought they had gotten good news when news revealed Young Jeezy would be releasing his long-awaited TM103 album in late July. The album was originally scheduled for a 2009 release, but was delayed to 2010 and now 2011.

Young Jeezy announced the album was done via Twitter. His fans were excited to hear he had completed the album. Jeezy had completed previous versions of the album, but they were not approved by Def Jam. But, Young Jeezy is confident his latest version will be approved.

Perhaps to speed things along, Young Jeezy said the release date for his album was confirmed. However, it turns out the album still has no secure release date. Def Jam revealed they have not confirmed a release date for Thug Motivation 103. It seems Young Jeezy will have to continue waiting if he intends to release his album on Def Jam.

Young Jeezy teams up with Justin Bieber

Ever since he came into the game, Justin Bieber has been connected to hip hop. Usher helped introduce him to the game and has been his mentor. Along the way, many of Usher's rapper friends have been introduced to Bieber.

Three years ago, Usher helped Young Jeezy reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Usher called upon Jeezy to provide a rap verse for "Love in this Club." The song ended up becoming the first breakout hit of 2008 in the process.

Young Jeezy and Usher have often kept contact, before and after the song. Recently, Jeezy met Justin Bieber and the two hit it off. The two have been recording in a Los Angeles studio to rebuild buzz for Thug Motivation 103.

Young Jeezy wants to be Uncomparable

Many rappers come into the game wanting to become the next big thing. Most rappers want to earn comparisons to the late legends, Biggie and Tupac. On the other hand, most white rappers are instantly compared to Eminem. There are not many who want to be outside of the box.

Earlier this year, Young Jeezy said it is time for hip hop to move on from the deaths of Biggie and Tupac. He said to never forget them, but to appreciate what is going on now. With that said, he wanted to be one of the new school legends. Jeezy said after the release of Thug Motivation 103, his legacy would be intact.

The upcoming album will not be compared to other classic albums. Most rappers often want their albums to be compared to the classic Blueprint by Jay-Z to solidify their legacy. Young Jeezy is not most rappers, with his next album and with his style, he is aiming to redefine rap the way Biggie, Tupac, Jay-Z, and Eminem have. After all, they did become legends by creating their own paths. Young Jeezy knows this and he is currently making his way through the game.

Jeezy to release “Thug Motivation 103” in June

Initially, Jeezy was set to release Thug Motivation 103 during the summer of 2009. He had even released a single, “Kobe vs. LeBron.” The song was popular because it referenced NBA stars, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. However, despite the popularity of the song, it did not catch on with radio. Because of that, it did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

After “Kobe vs. LeBron” failed to catch on, Def Jam had their hands full with other releases. At the last minute, they agreed to release The Wu Massacre. In what had begun as rumors ended with an actual album being planned, Jeezy was lost in the crossfire. Meanwhile, Fabolous was pushing for promotion on his album and Rick Ross was the biggest star.

Since Jeezy was pushed back on into 2010, Def Jam promised that Thug Motivation 103 would see its release sometime before the end of this year. The album has gone through many release dates. Originally, the album was planned for release in the first quarter. Later, the album was pushed back into the summer.

Last week, it was announced that the album had been pushed back from a June 22 release and into a July release. However, just as news has begun to spread about the change, Def Jam has changed the date back to June 22.

Jeezy talks about Rap Takeover

With Lil Wayne behind bars, many rappers are trying to step up to the plate and fill his shoes. Among those artists is Jeezy, who feels that he can remove hip hop from the post-Biggie/Tupac era. For starters, he announced that he was going to change his name from Young Jeezy to simply Jeezy.

Many people had taken offense to what Jeezy said about hip hop needing to move past Tupac and Biggie. Recently, when speaking on his new album, Jeezy said that it is time to move past the deceased legends. Even when he first said it, Jeezy tried to clear up his comments.

Not taking back what he said, Jeezy said that he is going to prove his critics wrong. While he has a strong commercial following, Jeezy is not critically-acclaimed. On his last album, his commercial following was not all that strong, either. But, he plans to change all of this on his next release.

Jeezy plans to release Thug Motivation 103 sometime this summer.
