By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Since coming out of prison, T.I. has had several projects coming at once. Among his most surprising activities is his literary workings. T.I. is currently promoting his book, which is called Power & Beauty.

While T.I. has had legal issues, fans know to expect a T.I. album every year. At one point, Young Jeezy fans were to expect the same thing. But, three years have passed since a new album came from Young Jeezy.

Most recently, his TM103 album was given a new release date of December 20. T.I., who is featured on Young Jeezy's new single, "F.A.M.E.," spoke on this. With Young Jeezy trying to put together the right album, T.I. blames Def Jam.

T.I. said the situation could be out of Young Jeezy's hands as the people do not know what goes on in the offices of Def Jam.

Watch T.I.'s interview with Power 105.1 below:

Young Jeezy releasing album with USDA in November

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Since Young Jeezy cannot land a secure release date for his long-awaited TM103, he has decided to go back into the studio with USDA. Four years ago, Young Jeezy released an album with his group. But, in the time since then, Jeezy has focused on his solo career.

Things have drastically changed for Young Jeezy, over the past four years. When he released the first USDA album, Jeezy was the focal point of the new Def Jam South. In 2009, Rick Ross took this title and advanced his career. Now, Young Jeezy finds himself in a middle of a feud with Rick Ross.

No one has confirmation, Rick Ross hinted at being behind the delays to Young Jeezy's album. For two years, Young Jeezy has been trying to release TM103. There were to be no more delays in 2011, but the album was pushed back, once again. Now, Young Jeezy is teaming up with his team to release a new album.

"Outta Here" is the street single and "Look At The Club" is the first official single. The album is said to have been completed and it will be released on November 15. The life is called The After Party and it will be released on SMC.

Lil Wayne wins 'Lyricist of the Year' at 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Upon getting out of prison, late last year, Lil Wayne promised fans he would take the game over. In 2008, Wayne dominated with his triple platinum Tha Carter III. Following numerous album delays, spanning from 2009, Wayne said Tha Carter IV would be released before the end of 2011.

The singles released from the album were "6 Foot 7 Foot," "John (If I Die Today)," featuring Rick Ross, "How to Love," and "She Will." It has been said more singles are coming, but they have yet to surface, nor has the "She Will" video. While Lil Wayne's singles dominated, he continued his span of guest appearances.

Lil Wayne appeared on Rick Ross' "9 Piece," Game's "Red Nation," Chris Brown's "Look at me Now," DJ Khaled's "Welcome to My Hood" and "I'm on One," Young Jeezy's "Ballin," and B.o.B.'s "Strange Clouds."

His solo efforts paired with his collaborations heled Lil Wayne take home the 'Lyricist of the Year' award at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Has Rick Ross become 50 Cent?

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

By 2008, it was clear Rick Ross was more than a one hit wonder, but he was on a collision course with 50 Cent. In the months prior, 50 Cent had dissed Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled. His own G-Unit movement was losing its fan base rapidly and the movement led by DJ Khaled was taking over.

DJ Khaled's We The Best movement was not yet a record label, just an assembly of artists. Lil Wayne and Plies were clearly the more popular artists from the group. Rick Ross, at the time, was more of a background figure. However, he had plans of changing the landscape.

The year of 2008 was eventually dominated by Lil Wayne and T.I., but Rick Ross had 2009. 50 Cent was also working on a comeback album and sending more disses towards artists affiliated with DJ Khaled. Early in 2009, Rick Ross released "Mafia Music," which contained a 50 Cent diss, poking fun at his baby mama drama.

The first half of 2009 consisted of Rick Ross and 50 Cent trading disses. 50 Cent, who was having issues with his record label, Interscope Records, boasted of how he would soon take over Def Jam. Once he took over the label, 50 Cent said he would block all moves made by Rick Ross and DJ Khaled. During this period of time, Rick Ross' name was in the headlines every day. Ross used this to his advantage, introducing his group, Triple C's, to the world and his Maybach Music Group.

50 Cent claimed victory in the feud, as did Rick Ross. At the end of the day, Rick Ross won, as his singles gained increasingly more radio play. By 2010, Rick Ross had become the biggest, active rapper in the South, prompting many hip hop publications to ask if Ross had become the "King of the South." One thing was clear, though, Rick Ross was a force to be reckoned with. His summer anthem, "B.M.F.," with Styles P, had taken over urban radio and Ross was on to better things.

Rick Ross promised he would be all over all forms of the media, in 2011, and he has lived up to the promise, with his God Forgives, I Don't album coming right before Christmas 2011. While he does not release diss records, Rick Ross is involved in a beef with Young Jeezy. Rick Ross usually releases a new album every year. Before Rick Ross landed on Def Jam, Young Jeezy did this. Now, Young Jeezy cannot even land a secure release date without something happening.

During a recent interview, Rick Ross was asked if he was behind this and he acted as if he was. When he was feuding with 50 Cent, Rick Ross was against his bullying tactics. During 50 Cent's feud with D-Block, who happened to be his Interscope label-mates, 50 was behind their album delays. Two years after he conquered the giant, has Rick Ross become the monster he set out to destroy?

Jim Jonsin speaks on producing for T.I., Yelawolf, B.o.B., and Young Jeezy

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Anticipation for Tha Carter III reached new heights when Lil Wayne released "Lollipop," the first single from the album. The song topped the charts and the hip hop world was introduced to Jim Jonsin. Later that year, Jim Jonsin produced T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" hit.

Through his 2008 successes, Jim Jonsin quickly became one of the most-coveted producers in the game. Jim Jonsin currently has beats in store for many of the top artists in the game. Mary J. Blige and Wiz Khalifa are among the people Jim Jonsin has heat for.

While he is doing work for other artists, Jim Jonsin is also back working with T.I. Jim Jonsin said he tried to put together great music for T.I. to rap over. Calling the Grand Hustle CEO a genius, Jim Jonsin said he will follow T.I.'s vision. Acknowledging the hardships he has gone through, Jim Jonsin said he would help Tip get past them.

Aside from his work with T.I., Jim Jonsin revealed he went to Detroit. While in Detroit, Jim Jonsin went to the studio with Eminem and Yelawolf. Jim Jonsin revealed he did three songs with Yelawolf. The songs are titled "Alabama" and "Yeah, That Boy." Jonsin focused more on the "Alabama" track, saying it was an anthem for the state of Alabama and labeling it a smash.

Jim Jonsin was also the mastermind behind the "Strange Clouds" track with B.o.B. and Lil Wayne. Crediting the song as a good lead single, Jim Jonsin revealed he was not a fan of the record. Speaking on B.o.B.'s new album, Jim Jonsin said he has some good tracks. Jim Jonsin went on to say he feels B.o.B.'s new album will be better than his first album.

Young Jeezy has also been contacting Jim Jonsin for beats. Jim Jonsin said Young Jeezy will randomly call him up and ask for beats. Usually, he will quickly send Jeezy a beat and it ends up going unused. Because he likes him, as both an artist and person, Jim Jonsin said he is eager to hear Thug Motivation 103 and he hopes he has a track on the album.

Jerry "Jaekwon" Taylor discusses the Business Side of the Music Industry and Myrtle Beach hip hop scene

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Often times, when fans think of the hip hop industry, they think about the rappers. Many young people around the world dream of being featured in the top magazines, websites, and networks. The ones overlooked are the people who make this happen.

Jerry "Jaekwon" Taylor is among the people who bring the rappers to life. His company, Ill Unit Entertainment, is based in one of the most-beautiful rural cities, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Having worked with both the big names and independent stars, Taylor has provided years of service to the game.

Aside from working with the rappers, Jerry Taylor has also had the chance to be up close and personal with a number of models. When he is not doing photoshoots with models and rappers, Taylor is out filming the nightlife of Myrtle Beach for his Streets Mayhem DVD series. Streets Mayhem DVD featured several stars, on all levels, and the DVD can be picked up in several locations in Myrtle Beach.

Read the entire interview below:

How long have you been working in the entertainment industry?
I would say fifteen years now.

What inspired you to create Mayhem Photography & Video?
Once the Streets Mayhem DVD came along, it was tough to try to have a photography comapny under the name "streets mayhem." So, we came up with Mayhem Photography & Video in order to come off more mainstream, it is versatile, where as Streets Mayhem is right there in the streets.

What is it like working closely with so many different women?
It is eye-catching, very much so. It's cool though, because I am friends with a lot of the girls I worked with and the girls I do not know personally, know the girls I already work with. They all know the type of person I am, so they know I will keep things professional. But, it can be difficult, at times, given some of the projects, but I always keep it business.

How does it feel to do events?
Depending on the type of event I am at, if it is mainstream entertainers, or underground entertainers who have different fields. The energy is there, the show is going on. We have full front row access and the other camera crews are out there wondering how we got up front. Overall, it's a good feeling.

Have you had the chance to work with any big names?
Yeah, our first actual show with Streets Mayhem started from the Core DJs Retreat at Club Kryptonite and we were out there with Jermaine Dupri, Big Kuntry King, Q Da Kid, B.o.B., Maino, Yung LA, Jam Master Jay's wife, and many other big names were there. I also worked with Dipset, Rick Ross, Masspike Miles, Triple Cs, Young Jeezy, and so many other big names.

Do you get to work with celebrities often?
As far as big-name celebrities, we have been there. But, when you are new in the game, you get brushed off by the big names. However, our first interview was with Yung LA, he gave us our first interview and he gave us the best interview. We have also done Method Man and Redman, DJ Dice, Reddy Roc, Gilla House, and Street Life from Wu-Tang.

Is being based in Myrtle Beach an advantage against other film and photography companies?
Definitely, it is an advantage. Since we are here, we have full access to everything going on. We get the phone calls, Facebook, all that. When we get there, we know all the people and what to do, plus we do not even have to travel.

How do you feel about the Myrtle Beach hip hop scene?
The Myrtle Beach hip hop scene is up-and-coming, a lot of people are rising and moving forward. I see it taking off, but the only problem is Myrtle Beach not being a hip hop area. It is hard for a Myrtle Beach artist to try to expand because of this. When there are independent shows, everyone is trying to compete.

Are you saying Myrtle Beach hip hop needs more unity?
I'm not really saying that. What I am saying is Myrtle Beach is not a hip hop area. The DJs are good here, but other markets have more events, more radio stations, and more outlets for the independent artists. But, we do not have that as much. If we had all that, Myrtle Beach hip hop would be much bigger. People such as myself and a number of promoters are making things better though.

What are the names of some of Myrtle Beach's hottest record labels?
Raw Ent., they are hot, but they are based out of Conway. 3D Entertainment, they are really doing their thing. Empire X, they are another big label down here, they are the Rawkus Records of Myrtle Beach. Those three and then Bloodline Ent.

Who are some of the artists in the area to look out for?
Oh wow, Lil Z, Bino, Shep Holmes, Critical, Swagger, LB, Young Hood, Rize X, Gunnz, Lad City, of Coteezy, Face Monopoly, all those dudes are really doing there thing.

Where do you see the Myrtle Beach hip hop scene in five years?
If the pace continues, the club owners continue allowing the artists to come out and perform and doing forums and everyone keeps doing their thing, they are really going to bring a name, aside from Bike Week, to Myrtle Beach.

What are some of the top hip hop clubs in Myrtle Beach?
First, you have my favorite spot, Bikini Beach Club, 9th Avenue Bar & Grill, Fourth Quarter, the hard-knock club of the Beach, 3rd Avenue Bar, another hot spot, Skully's, those are the top places.

Do a lot of performances take place at those spots?
Yeah, all the time. They have performances there frequently. Most recently, the South Carolina Underground Music Award performances were at the Bikini Beach Club, shout out to Ms. KiKi. Fourth Quarter has had a bunch of big shows. 9th Avenue is going to have Meek Mill out there.

Anybody you want to shout out?
The Streets Mayhem team, L Smash, Wink, the other members of Streets Mayhem. My dude Grind Mode, Marcus, DJ Prince, Grind Mode Ent., Mr. Swaggnificent Ent., the first lady of Streets Mayhem, Tina Truth, be on the lookout for her, Young Yaz, shouts to Quadir Ransom Ent., DJ Twigz, DJ Sez, Jay Vurgess with Ocean's Ten Studios, Big J The Mayor of King Life Ent. Of course, Hip Hop Vibe for the interview. Also, the person who hooked me up and rocks for me hard, Laz City, they got me the Yung LA interview, they are big. Butter Black, shout him out. Duzkn Pro, shout him out. Much love to Dipset, as well.
