Ice T disses Rick Ross and Lil Wayne

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For well over twenty years, Ice T has been in the hip hop scene, as one of the original gangsta rappers. Over the years, Ice T has focused less on the lyrics and more on the movies. Since Ice T's run, many rappers have come and gone. Now, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are among the most popular rappers out there.

While the younger generation looks up to Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, many of the veterans are disgusted. Ice T is among the veterans disgusted with them. On VH1's "Planet Rock: The Story of Crack and Hip Hop," Ice T calls them both out. Ice T's disgust of them comes from his belief of them being fake.

Ice T said Rick Ross stole the name, and lifestyle, of a drug dealer, so he should call him identity theft. Among other things, he and Lil Wayne also fit into the "pop rap" definition. Ice T said rap and pop were two things which never should have mixed. The reason pop and rap were not to mix was because rap was the alternative to pop.

Rick Ross is not the only rapper Ice T thinks is fake, as he brought up their song, "John." Both rappers rhyme about having a "choppa in the car." Speaking on Lil Wayne, Ice T said "yeah right you do." Focusing back on the documentary, Ice T said the entire documentary will be authentic. Ice T admitted he never sold drugs, or anything of that nature. However, many rappers who did will be featured in the documentary.

By The Hip Hop Writer

Getting out of prison, this most-recent time, has been an adventure for T.I. Due to good behavior, the Atlanta rapper was released from prison early. T.I. provided his own transportation from the prison to the halfway house. However, his method of transportation was questioned.

Only one day after T.I. was released to the halfway house, he was sent back to prison. Initially, it was said T.I. using a tour bus to ride to the house was the problem. But, after Tip's camp released a photo of the police officers beside the bus, they said he was filming his reality show, upon getting on the bus, which is illegal.

One week since the release of that news, T.I. has been released from prison again. Now at the halfway house, T.I. was freed from prison with no problems. T.I. used the proper vehicle to leave the prison facility. Upon leaving prison, there were no cameras from his upcoming VH1 reality show, either.

August 2011 closed in an odd manner for T.I., who had been released from prison. An announcement was made, saying Tip would be released. The announcement was written off by T.I.'s lawyer, who said no one knows the date until minutes prior to the release.

However, T.I. was released from prison, as announced, and ready to get himself back in the game. T.I.'s freedom lasted for a few hours before he was carted back off to prison. The Grand Hustle CEO was sent back to prison because he rode a tour bus to the halfway house.

In the time since this story leaked, Tiny, T.I.'s wife, has spoken out against the police. She said the law enforcement had no problem with the tour bus. Several officers even took pictures beside the bus, sparking much outrage.

Once again, the law enforcement is back with another reason T.I. is in prison for another month. The reason the tour bus is suddenly a problem is because of T.I.'s upcoming VH1 reality show. The law enforcement said it was likely filming began right then, which is conducting business. Because of the law, T.I. cannot conduct business until he is completely free.

"Watch the Throne" not coming on July 4

By The Hip Hop Writer

Late last year, only months after Kanye West released his comeback album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, it was announced that West would collaborate with Jay-Z on an album. Within a month, their first single, "H.A.M.," was released.

Initially, it seemed as if Kanye West and Jay-Z were quickly putting the album together. The first two songs from the album, Watch the Throne, was out and the rappers took over a hotel room to record. But, their schedules soon caused them to stop recording.

Following the "H.A.M." single, Watch the Throne was pretty much forgotten. Jay-Z was back in headlines for his business ventures and Kanye West for his romantic woes. However, a few weeks ago, it was reported that Watch the Throne would come out on July 4. Before summer, Jay-Z and Kanye West began recording again and reports say the album is complete.

However, a representative from VH1 said the album will not be released on July 4.

Nelly reflects on Drug Dealer past

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Nelly's career will officially be documented when he is chronicled by VH1 for "Behind the Music." During his interview with the music series, Nelly opens up about everything. The St. Louis rapper discusses the death of his sister, Jackie, and his career before rap took off for him.

Early in his career, Nelly was one of the most popular rappers in the game. His first two albums sold well over five million copies and his songs received constant air play. But, the second half of the 2000s was not so good to Nelly. His record sales dwindled and his music is hardly ever played.

Fortunate for Nelly he sold records when he did, or this documentary may be on "American Gangster" or another series of that type. Before he decided to give rap a serious try, Nelly was dealing drugs. An excerpt from "Behind the Music" quoted Nelly saying he was slinging anything he could get his hands on.

As he was going off to make drug deals, Nelly said he would sometimes ride his daughter. Other times, he would ride both his daughter and her mother. Looking back on it, Nelly realizes how naive he was. Had they been caught by the police, Nelly could have cost his daughter both parents. But, fortunately, Nelly was able to move past that part of his life and make his living the legitimate way.
