Pusha T replies to Dipset and discusses G.O.O.D deal

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The past month has been great for Pusha T. A few years ago, he attempted to land a solo career. Ever since 2002, he has been one half of The Clipse. The crew made multiple hits in the 2002-2003, but has fallen off since.

Earlier this month, Pusha T ended up signing with Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music label. Right when things began to look good, following his VMA performance of "Runway," the crew takes in a diss from Dipset. Dipset has been a long rival of Kanye West.

Despite his solo career seemingly taking off, Pusha T still wants people to know The Clipse still exists. But, at this point in his life, he wants to do something for himself. Currently, Malice is writing a book and doing a film.

Once he feels something good coming, Pusha T hopes The Clipse can come out with another album and more music can come from the Re-Up gang. Right now, Pusha is focusing on making the overall brand grow under the G.O.O.D. Music name. With the focus on the brand, Pusha T quickly dismissed the diss from Jim Jones, by asking if the "Runway" diss was good because he had not heard it.

Jay-Z discusses luck and His Career

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The story that is Jay-Z is full of amazing changes. Once a local-level drug dealer, Jay-Z became the biggest rapper in the game, and is currently one of the most important businessmen in the world. Even during his days on the street, this was all a part of his plan. Many people look at Jay-Z and say he has been lucky.

In a recent interview with Forbes.com, Jay-Z spoke about his career. During his climb from local thug into a big-name businessman, Jay-Z lost a lot of friends. One key friend who helped him rise was Jaz-O. Despite all Jaz did for Jay, they had a falling out in 2001 and have not spoken since.

For those who remember how he fell out with Jaz-O, it came as a shock when Jay-Z credited him for his success. Before he was invited to record with Jaz, Jay-Z was "involved with street things" and felt fortunate to have a legitimate opportunity. Gone for two months, when Jay-Z returned, he learned the operation had been shut down by law enforcement and his friend was sent to prison for 13 years.

Fast forward some fifteen years later and Jay-Z set the rap world on fire and held a corporate job as the president of Def Jam. Many people view his time at Def Jam as a waste because the talent did not have the proper time to flourish. For the first time since leaving the job in 2008, Jay-Z spoke on why things did not work out. Jay-Z said the ideas he had were ahead of their time and Universal Music Group did not have much use for them. He wanted Def Jam to buy clubs and television stations to promote the artists.

When he realized Def Jam and Universal were not going to allow him to properly push his ideas, Jay-Z decided not to renew his contract. Instead, Jay-Z decided it would be best for him to leave the career he has known goodbye. When he left Def Jam, he gave up all control of his creation, Roc-A-Fella Records and he created a new venture, Roc Nation, and went from being a rapper with a high position to being an international businessman.

Q-Tip working with Kanye West and Jay-Z

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Throughout his career, Q-Tip has played by the sidelines, silently creating hits. Most of his own music came from the group, A Tribe Called Quest. Outside of his 1999 breakout hit, "Vivrant Thing," Tip has been rather silent.

In 2006, Q-Tip released a song with Busta Rhymes, which was featured on NBA Live '06 called "For the Nasty." The production work was handled by Pharrell. Q-Tip has released two albums since that time.

Most of Q-Tip's time is spent working on new music, as he prepares to release his third album in three years. Aside from his own music, he is working with Kanye West on his upcoming album. Tip has also teamed up with Jay-Z for his secret new project.

Outside of music, look out for Q-Tip in upcoming movies and plays. There is also the possibility of a documentary about A Tribe Called Quest.

Juelz Santana shocked by Dipset's Kanye diss

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Not even back together for a year and the Diplomats are already back on their game. Before their ugly breakup, the trio were known for making disses for Jay-Z. Most of their disses, aside from the ones made by Jim Jones, were ignored. But, after being in his shoes, Cam'ron decided to stop insulting Jay-Z.

After hearing the latest diss, even Juelz Santana was shocked. He was not shocked by the Jay-Z diss, but the line aimed at Kanye West. At times, Jim Jones took shots at Kanye, but Cam'ron never had anything negative to say about him. Mainly looking to work with more artists, Juelz Santana never dissed Kanye, either.

With things being cool for the past two years, Juelz Santana had reached out to Kanye West. Due to both rappers being a part of Def Jam, West agreed to feature him on his album. Santana had informed both Jim Jones and Cam'ron of the deal and they did not stop him from doing the collaboration. But, after they learned about the collaboration, they still went ahead and dissed Kanye.

Despite the verbal deal Juelz Santana made with Kanye West, he does not know if his record with West will make Dark Twisted Fantasy.

50 Cent sued for $200,000 for "Things Fall Apart" film

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

It appears as if 50 Cent cannot stay out of trouble, the rapper finds himself embroiled in more controversy. Last week, 50 Cent was sued over his film, Things Fall Apart. While self-financing the film, the rapper reached out to Crispy Twig Productions for casting, agreeing to pay $5,000 a week for 19 weeks to the company.

The head of Crispy Twig was under the impression that cast members, James Caan and Diana Rodriguez, were under contract with the film. However, they recently revealed they had not made any commitment to the film. There were rumors of Mario Van Peebles directing the film, but there is no director on board either.

Starting in May 2010, the film was supposed to be produced in the state of Michigan. 50 Cent had lost over 60 pounds in order to play the role of a high school football player who discovers he has cancer. But, things ended up falling apart for 50 Cent, as he fell $90,000 behind in payment to Crispy Twig and the film has yet to come out.

Crispy Twig Productions is suing 50 Cent for $200,000 in missed business opportunities and the payments missed by the G-Unit general.

Kanye West aligns the stars for "Lord Lord Lord"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Back by unpopular demand, Kanye West has been hitting the people with new music each day. Recently, West teamed up with Swizz Beatz yet again for a track. Due to the relationship between Swizzy and Jay-Z, the two artists have maintained a good relationship.

Even when he had hit his low following the VMA controversy, the people within hip hop still had love for Kanye. As a result, when he came back out, people still reached out for collaborations. Having been on quite a few songs and heating up radio with a few of his own, Kanye has position.

Re-teaming with Swizz Beatz has led to Kanye's latest free release, "Lord Lord Lord." Not the type to bring in multiple stars on his records, Kanye West has changed things up. For this new record, Kanye West reached out to such renowned lyricists as Raekwon and Mos Def. Early in his career, West received comparisons to Mos Def, now the two have collaborated for the first time.

It is unclear if this record will end up on Kanye West's upcoming album, Dark Twisted Fantasy, which will be coming out sometime in November on GOOD Music and Def Jam.

50 Cent and Lil' Kim reunite

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

50 Cent and Lil' Kim's relationship began in turmoil when they collaborated on "Magic Stick." The song was initially going to be featured on Get Rich or Die Tryin.' But, the song missed the deadline because Lil' Kim took too long recording her part of the song.

Released in the summer of 2003, "Magic Stick" was a major hit for Lil' Kim. A video for the song was supposed to take place, but 50 Cent gave Kim a taste of her own medicine. At the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, 50 Cent refused to perform the song with Lil' Kim.

Following these series of events, Lil' Kim began supporting the Murder Inc. camp. During this time, the feud going on between 50 Cent and Murder Inc. was very serious. Her change of sides helped to derail her career for a few years. In 2005, she sided with The Game in his feud with 50 Cent. Their feud hit a silent peak in 2007 and the duo shocked the world.

Only weeks after Lil' Kim had dissed 50 Cent, she jumped on a record for his T.O.S. album, called "Wanna Lick." The song was hailed as the new version of "Magic Stick," but 50 Cent did not want it to be an official single off the album. Experiencing fairly good air play, the song did wonders in repairing the relationship between the two rappers. But, for the most part, a collaboration between 50 Cent and Lil' Kim did not live up to expectations.

Feeling as if the third time is the charm, 50 Cent reached out to Lil' Kim for another collaboration, which he hopes will be a major radio and video hit for him.

Nicki Minaj embraces Female Power

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Many people have wondered about Nicki Minaj and her style in the past. Since she took over hip hop during the summer of 2010, Nicki feels more comfortable speaking on her style. She jumped into a game dominated by males, so she had to do something to make her stick out.

For starters, Nicki Minaj has used her body and the "Black Barbie" persona to win fans over. But, in her concerts, she often says inspirational things to women. As time has gon on, there are more women coming to see Nicki than men. A great number of these ladies appear to be attracted to Minaj.

In order to appease her newfound fans, Nicki Minaj plays into the whole lesbian persona. At many of her concerts, Nicki said she has to hug on women and a lot of them want her. Only willing to go so far, Minaj plays the game, for a little while. Ever since she made it big, there have been rumors of Nicki Minaj being a lesbian and a lot of the rumors have come from this type of behavior.

In other news, Nicki Minaj's debut album, Pink Friday, will be released on Young Money on November 23, 2010.

Lloyd Banks gets Eminem and Styles P hungry

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Ever since the release of "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley," Lloyd Banks has been the hottest member of G-Unit. After four rough years, things are looking bright for the label. Everyone is finally ready to move on with Young Buck being released from the label and 50 Cent moving on from Ja Rule.

No longer looking to entertain beef, Lloyd Banks has been reparing bridges that were burned. He made it clear he has no issues, and never had any, with Kanye West. As a result, West has joined him on his album. Despite no longer being on the same team as Eminem, he also got him on the new album.

Lloyd Banks has not released an album in four years and he says he is hungry. This is the same feeling he felt when he put his debut album together. Due to the situation, The Hunger For More 2, seemed like an appropriate title for the album. Making peace with more enemies, the first official L.O.X./G-Unit collaboration will come when Styles P appears on the album.

The Hunger For More 2 will be released sometime in November through G-Unit/EMI.

Drake previews R&B Mixtape

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Not too many people took Drake seriously when he began releasing mixtapes. After taking a couple of years off, he returned in 2009 with So Far Gone. The mixtape was very popular and sounded like an album. Following the success of the mixtape, Drake signed to Young Money.

Lil Wayne had already been mentoring Drake ever since he first came into the game. But, when the two rappers were officially on the same team, things clicked. Drake honed his skills and became one of the finest emcees in the game. He even had the advantage of a good voice.

Unlike most rappers, who find singers, Drake is actually able to sing his own hooks. Drake has become so good at the hooks that he does them for other rappers. Rick Ross called upon the surrogate Young Money captain to do the hook for "Aston Martin Music." When he released his debut album, Drake promised to still keep the mixtape game hot.

Last month, Drake gave a little bit of information about doing an R&B mixtape and the streets began buzzing about the new music. Now, Drake is giving the fans a preview of what to expect from the mixtape. With the mixtape, It's Never Enough, expected to hit in October or November, Drake has released the song, "Lonely," in preparation.

Cam'ron re-ignites Jay-Z feud

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Last year, at the height of his feud with Jim Jones, Cam'ron said he no longer had issues with Jay-Z. For a short while, both rappers waved the Roc-A-Fella flag. During this time, Cam'ron went platinum for the first and last time. But, when Cam attempted to become the head of the Roc, tempers flared.

The result ended with Dame Dash and half of Roc-A-Fella leaving and Jay-Z and the other half staying. While Dash was quiet, Cam and his crew was very loud. They continually dissed the man who made them known. But, in a few years, Cam'ron's crew suffered an identical split.

During the split, Cam'ron said he understood how Jay-Z felt and he respects his hustle. Cam said he was trying to become more like Jay-Z and was open to working with him. Around this time, his former artist, Juelz Santana, was trying to reunite the old crew. Having tried to mend fences earlier in the year, Cam'ron vehemently denied a reunion and told the world Juelz was on drugs.

Following a public apology, Cam'ron reunited with his old crew. Back together for a few months, new music is coming from the camp and their fans are pleased. Not only is new music coming, but old issues have been reborn. With 50 Cent no longer trying to divide and conquer, the crew has refocused their energy on trying to tear Jay-Z down. Not even back together for a year, Cam'ron and Jim Jones have come together for another diss record aimed at Jay-Z.

The record also takes aim at Kanye West, but with both rappers being nonconfrontational, there is not too much expected out of the diss.

Rick Ross talks Nicki Minaj and Wiz Khalifa

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Overnight, Rick Ross has become the authority in hip hop and his opinion holds a lot of weight. Having gone from being the latest product from Slip-N-Slide to "the boss," everybody wants to hear from Ross. Having gone full circle, Rick Ross has given his official co-sign to the movement of Nicki Minaj and Wiz Khalifa.

Because of his relationship with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross has always had respect for Nicki Minaj. Like the rest of the hip hop world, Ross sat back and watched her dominate the summer of 2010. He was happy for her, but still not convinced about her skills. But, after hearing her verse on "Monster," Rick Ross is a big Nicki fan.

With Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross never had many doubts. Upon hearing him, Ross knew he would be big. As the head of his own record label, Rick Ross is trying to meet with Wiz. If all goes well, he will be adding Wiz Khalifa to his Maybach Music Group roster, too. After spending time with Diddy, Rick Ross has learned how to operate a business of his own. Then, watching Lil Wayne do his thing, he wants his own label to be next.

Signed to Maybach already is The Triple C's, Young Dice, Torch, and Rick Ross. Ross feels as if all of these rappers can bring something different to the hip hop game that everyone will love in the end.

Fabolous wants Jay-Z and Nas to do Mixtapes

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

While he never quite took over the game the way many had predicted him to, Fabolous has been a fixture on the mixtape scene. Early in his career, Fab's style was comparable to another Brooklyn rapper, Jay-Z. During his time in the game, the relationship between Fab and Jay grew close.

Fabolous is signed to DJ Clue's Desert Storm label and Clue also served as Jay-Z's official DJ for years. In many ways, Fab had the style taught to him. Wanting to do something on his own, DJ Clue landed a deal with Elektra Records. But, when the label shut down, the crew moved to Atlantic Records.

Jay-Z soon brokered a deal in 2006 to get his former rival, Nas, and Desert Storm under Def Jam. At the time, Jay-Z served as the CEO of Def Jam. Ever since this time, Fabolous has had plenty of time with both rappers, but he has yet to share a track with Nas. However, Nas has given a lot of advice that Fabolous has used for his game. Having mastered the underground, Fab has advice for both Jay-Z and Nas.

Now, unable to release music every year, Jay-Z just puts out albums when he can and Nas no longer has the support of Jay-Z. Most rappers have turned to the mixtape scene because of the independence it gives them and the labels have no control over this. Jay-Z and Nas were fortunate to have the labels in their back pockets, but this is no longer the case. With his album coming in 2011, many fans are wondering what has happened to the Jay-Z of old, while many fans have almost quit on Nas. To keep this from happening, Fab suggests the rappers simply jump into the mixtape scene.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Due to all of his legal woes, T.I. has cancel his highly anticipated concert in Pennsylvania. The rapper was fresh out of prison for a 2007 gun charge when he got back into trouble. Last month, in Los Angeles, he and Tiny, his wife, were caught with drugs in their car.

By the way things appear, T.I. may soon be heading back to prison. However, this time, he would be in California instead of Georgia. There is a slight chance he could be brought up on charges in Georgia because of a parole violation. But, his camp is hoping for the best.

Fans of T.I. at Penn State were hoping he would be able to come to town on September 24 to put on a good show. Had the circumstances been normal, T.I. would have gladly been there. However, he is facing more charges and he cannot seem as if he is taking his release for granted by violating the law and then going off to perform. If he is cleared of the charges, T.I. may do a show for the college kids.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

After months of being out of the public eye, Kanye West decided to re-emerge last month. His song, "Power," has sparked plenty of controversy. With controversy came attention and MTV invited Kanye to attend to 2010 edition of the Video Music Awards.

Last year, during the show, Kanye West made national news when he interrupted Taylor Swift. The media needed a reason to hate Kanye and he gave them a good one. Many radio stations even stopped playing his music. But, after a good and long vacation, Kanye came back.

Making light of last year's situation, he and Taylor Swift staged another incident. However, it was made clear that their issues were officially over. Based off that one fact, West cannot be denied in the game and XXL has realized this. Hottie of the Week: Brittany Monet

By Lady Killa
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Having been in the business since the tender age of five, Brittany Monet is ready to break into the game in a major way. Not only does she model, but she also dances and sings. Before the end of next year, she hopes to release her debut album. Despite being a triple threat, her talents do not stop there.

Outside of her career, Brittany is going to school at the University of Houston. Currently, she is persuing a degree in psychology so there is something for her to fall back on. Even with a full plate, a lot of energy goes into everything Brittany Monet does. Soon, she hopes all of this hard work will pay off.

Recently Hip Hop Vibe's own Lady Killa reached out to Brittany's camp and they reached back. The full interview can be read below:

1. Coming into a crowded field, how do you plan to separate yourself from the pack?

Basically it is simple, just being myself will separate me. I feel that each individual has their own unique characteristics so it is up to them to execute that. I always execute my strengths and weaknesses, so that I cannot be hindered by any opportunities.

2. In this business, a lot of women are overlooked because of their body types, how do you plan to show that you are more than a pretty face and a nice body?
- I plan on selling my entire package, not just my physical attributes. I feel that if I give a little at a time that won’t give room for people to make sudden judgments. We all have to grow together and if I’m a new face trying to attract all crowds I have to give them little by little so that way they will know me before they know the rest of my package.

3. When did you realize you wanted to be in show businesses?
- When I was a young child, around age 7, I always performed for daycares and small community centers, school, and benefit programs. Whenever I see the crowd’s face and how my presence on stage made them react I knew this was something I always wanted to do. To entertain, and to make people fall in love with dancing just as hard as I did.

4. When did you land your first gig?
- My first big gig as far as non-school or center programs was with, Ashley Williams R&B Sensation from Houston, and I got to dance with her from my good friend Hood Star Chantz putting in a good word for me. After that I was able to perform and do videos with Just Brittany and L-G Kalizouri Entertainment’s own Kimistry “The Mixed Breed” and Renaldo Price “Tha Truth”.

5. What inspires you to get up each day and continue to do what you do?
-God is my motivation, and my family! I aspire to be the best that I can be and if I can do that and put a smile on their faces I feel that is the greatest Blessing and motivation to keep pushing!

6. When can people expect to something from you?
-I’m working on a big surprise I don’t want to spill yet, but just know that it will be out at the end of the year and it will be something everyone will enjoy!

7. How do you plan to use the fact that you model as an advantage for your dance career?
-I feel networking will take me far. If you have positive people and a great social circle than you can achieve anything. By modeling it will show that I’m versatile, I may be doing a photo shoot one day for someone and they may need a dancer. That would put me on the map to showcase my multi-talents and you never know how that may work out!

8. Are you worried about people classifying you as another Melyssa Ford?
- Not at all! I am my own person and people will definitely see that.

9. Do you currently have a deal with a label or modeling agency?
Management Company: L-G Kalizouri Entertainment (Model/Dancer)

10. Do you have any material already out there?
-I do, but I am working on my YouTube page to be reconstructed so all of my footage is down. As soon as I get it back up I’ll post it on my twitter and Facebook.

11. Where can people go to see more images of you and see your videos?
-I’m on Facebook, Twitter, Dance Jam, here on Hip Hop Vibe, and You Tube. My facebook is Brittany Monet, twitter is @London_BEE and my You Tube is being constructed along with my dance jam, but I’ll post that as soon as they are fixed. L-G Kalizouri Entertainment’s website coming soon! Check out L-G Kalizour on FB as well.

Lloyd Banks nabs Kanye West collabo for New Album

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Ever since 2006, G-Unit Records has been falling off and it was clear following the release of Rotten Apple. Ironically, the same artist to suffer the initial backlash is the artist who has helped bring G-Unit back. When 50 Cent angrily left his longtime home of Interscope Records, he told his men to grind.

Upon getting the message from 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks hit the mixtape scene hard. He repaired his image and solidified himself as a great artist in his own right. Feeling confident after his mixtape releases, Banks started working on his third studio album. Leading off with "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley," he helped bring G-Unit back.

While Banks has been scoring hits, 50 Cent has been creating films and Tony Yayo has held down the mixtape game. All cylinders are clicking with G-Unit and it was the music from Lloyd Banks that actually helped G-Unit secure their new deal with EMI Music. Now that they are backed by a major label, again, 50 Cent is going to do things right this time and make 2010/2011 feel like 2003 all over again, without the frequent disses.

Recently, Lloyd Banks has been the cleanup man for G-Unit Records, as he apologized to Ashanti for bringing her into the feud with Murder Inc. Records. After Murder Inc., G-Unit had issues with Terror Squad and eventually Kanye West. 50 Cent always said there was nothing personal behind his disses, but it was clear Kanye West did not care much for 50 Cent or G-Unit. Despite his feelings towards 50 Cent, West has become quite fond of Lloyd Banks and his hunger.

Because of this, Kanye West agreed to lend his vocals to Banks' third studio album, The Hunger For More 2.

Lil Wayne meets with Tech N9ne in prison, wins big at BMI Awards

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Lil Wayne is likely to go down in history as the most active prisoner due to the way he has run Young Money. Ever since March, Wayne has been in prison, but his crew has dominated the 2010 summer. Two years ago, Lil Wayne said it would be like this, but no one believed him.

With Drake and Nicki Minaj dominating the summer, Lil Wayne has sat back and counted the checks. Not only is more money coming in from Young Money, but Lil Wayne is still winning awards. Recently, he won a BMI Award for Songwriter of the Year. Outside of that, he is still working on his ninth album, Tha Carter IV.

Having went from begging for big-name collaborations by challenging the top dogs, people fight to work with Weezy. Ever since his 2008 explosion, Lil Wayne has worked with Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, and Game. While he was able to take over the commercial hip hop game, Wayne had his sights set on recording with one of the underground kings in Tech N9ne.

Finally, Lil Wayne shouted Tech out and he quickly responded and the two met in prison. Right then, the deal was made and Tech N9ne will be recording on Tha Carter IV.

Eminem wins VMA for Best Hip Hop Video with "Not Afraid"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The comeback is finally complete for Eminem. After conquering the rap game by 2004, Em took some time off. Rumors of retirement arose in 2006, when 50 Cent confirmed a break from Slim Shady. Soon, rumors of a return began making hip hop headlines.

When 2009 arrived, Eminem went back in the lab and recorded new music. Eventually, this music went on to become his 2009 album, Relapse. The album easily went platinum and it was well-receieved by fans. Despite the popularity, the critics were not too fond of the album, nor was Em.

Upon his 2010 Recovery, Eminem addresses this. His lead single, "Not Afraid," spoke about his life from the start of his hiatus up until the present moment. With the video full of symbols of his climb from the trailer park to the top, he finally conquered his fears. Last night, MTV shared a mutual feeling and gave him the Moonman for the Best Hip Hop Video with "Not Afraid."

Remembering Tupac Shakur, 1971-1996

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Today marks the fourteenth year since the death of the legendary gangsta rapper, Tupac Shakur. In his career, Tupac redefined the game of hip hop. Before Tupac, there were not many rappers who released an album each year. Following The Digital Underground, Shakur broke into the game.

Once the people finally heard Tupac rap, the world was his and he ran with it. Late in 1991, he debuted with "Brenda's Got a Baby," raising the awareness of teenage pregnancy. Early in his career, Tupac was known for social concious rap. However, soon he adapted his game and spread knowledge for the thugs, henceforth the Thug Life movement.

Despite all of the great things he brought to the rap game, Tupac will be best-known for his involvement in the East Coast/West Coast feud. There are many people who believe his death was one of the results from the feud. Initially, Tupac was a mentor to Brooklyn rapper, The Notorious B.I.G., but once Biggie became famous, he and Tupac ended up being rivals. Everything changed when Tupac was in the same studio with Biggie and Puff Daddy and Tupac ended up being shot in 1994.

The feud was on, despite never garnering a reply from Bad Boy. In 1995, Tupac was arrested, but he was bailed out by Marion "Suge" Knight, the head of Bad Boy's rival, Death Row Records. With Death Row behind him, Tupac sounded off on Bad Boy through his All Eyez on Me album and the scathing diss record, still played heavily today, "Hit Em Up." Sadly, following the release of this song and the album and right before the release of The Seven Day Theory, Tupac was brutally murdered in Las Vegas.

Young Dice opens up about Maybach Music Group

By Mikey T The Movie Star
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Fresh off the success of his fourth album, Teflon Don, Rick Ross has been hard at work. Outside of his highly successful music career, Ross has been building his own dynasty. The latest piece of this dynasty is Young Dice. Having the boss take a chance on him was big, now he has the burden of not disappointing. Originally, Dice worked with Bang 'Em Smurf and Domination.

Confident in his music, Young Dice is more than ready to prove himself. This is one of the reasons he has teamed up with other crews without help from Ross. Recently, Dice worked with Bang 'Em Smurf and Domination and Feed Da Wolves Entertainment. Dice feels making these connections early will help him in the long run.

Recently, I visited Young Dice and he spoke with me about Maybach Music Group and Rick Ross' latest effort, Teflon Don, in this exclusive interview for Hip Hop Vibe.

On the Rise: TRU REALITY

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Hip hop was declared dead some time ago, but the underground movement has been going strong for a few years. Grinding down South between Orlando and Atlanta has been Tru Reality. Much like other underground rappers, Tru has decided to go into business by himself.

Realizing major record labels may not be in his best interest, Tru Reality has been making moves on his own. In July, he released his debut album, Tha Occupation, and he has watched as his fortunes changed. Now that his album is out, he has landed a deal for his own reality show, among other things.

Tru Reality recently gave Hip Hop Vibe an exclusive interview, which can be read below.

1. Exactly how do you feel about the current landscape of hip hop?

tha current landscape of hip-hop is brand new and energized but itz very slim and therez not much of a choice in different artist to choose from . it seemz az thou tha game iz falling apart and only supportz 5-10 artist and everything else is underground .

2. What do you think you bring to the game that can lead to an eventual change?
what i bring to tha game iz a brand new sound not touched yet. i select tha perfect blend of beatz and then paste a blend of swag and confidence over it. i get a lot of credit for ahaving a different sound that tha game iz missing cuz everyone iz doing tha same thing these dayz.

3. Once you become established, do you see yourself branching out into films?
as far as doing filmz and television that may come a lil bit sooner than tha suppossed "blow up" theory. im currently filming a reality tv show with my label partner and fiance' DURTY FLOWERZ".

4. Can you open up a little about your reality show, which will be airing here on Hip Hop Vibe?
the reality show is called "A MARRIAGE MADE IN HIP-HOP". itz a inside view into the relationship and bizness of tha TRU REALITY N DURTY FLOWERZ. we make movez together, record together. perform together ., and crack a lot of jokes about tha industry while going thru a wonderfully created relationship and an engagement which will all be open to tha world very soon .. you can check out tha pilot on Hip Hop Vibe and leave a comment .. "A MARRIAGE MADE IN HIP-HOP"

5. What track off Tha Occupation do you think fans will connect with best?
so far im getting a response that tha album iz CLASSIC! plus i got a song from DURTY FLOWERZ called "MY TIME". that song iz getting a lot of play by djz all ova tha country as well as "YOU KNOW" AND "IM A DO ME" .

6. When will the people be hearing more from Tha Hate Club?
you can expect to hear more from "THA HATE CLUB ENT." in a few weekz when we finish aping tha rest of tha reality show then im a drop tha new single "YOU SHOULD BE MY LADY" i already shot tha video . itz phenominal!! thatz tha song to take us commercial or whateva u call it cuz it caterz to tha femalez and bringz a new side of "TRU REALITY" .. THA VIDEO ALSOFEATUREZ SIKKWITIT AND DURTY FLOWERZ and tha hook iz actually sung by RAYBONE a artist from atlanta .

7. Do you find it difficult to be the main artist and the boss of a record label?
i think being able to run ur own show , nswer ur own phone callz and make ur own desicionz iz an ultimate blessing and i luv it 100% . to contact me for a show or DURTY FLOWERZ just hit me up 321 460 8367 .. THA HATE CLUB ENT

8. Do you have plans on working with any big name artists?
yes im gonna record a song with BUSTA RHYMES in tha near future.. and DURTY FLOWERZ got a meeting next month to record with nicki minaj and LIL KIM.

9. How are you going to make the jump from regional artist to international artist?
im not really worried about making that jump .. my marketing firm has already hit those marketz across tha globe and i have a few videoz being played in germany and japan currently.

10. Where can people recieve their copy of Tha Occupation?
From the 101 Distribution site, from iTunes or from right here at the Hip Hop Vibe Store.

11. If people want to see more and hear more from you, where can they go?
to see more from TRU REALITY and DURTY FLOWERZ you can check us out on facebook, youtube and myspace.. and also check us out on hhvibe.socialgo.com.

Lil Jon preps Crunk Rock album

by Mark Thomas
Hip Hop Vibe Senior Staff Writer

Lil Jon's new Crunk Rock album has been in the pipeline for years now, but he has finally confessed that he has returned to the studio in an effort to finish the album.

A recent interview revealed that Jon was sticking to his intention of releasing the album, which is a rock / rap hybrid. In a project which had an initial release date of 2006, Crunk Rock was delayed time and time again, more recently due to the ongoing battle with his record label, TVT.

2008 saw the end of his TVT contract, which released him from the label and allowed him to sign a new deal. He now aims to release Crunk Rock early next year.

"We're pretty much like 80 percent done," he told the Associated Press about the Crunk Rock project, which would be his first solo album. "It's probably one of my best albums to date in the sense that it's got a little bit of everything that I know everybody's going to groove to."

Jon has stated that all the tracks he wants included on the album are there, so all that remains are polishing things up and applying the finishing touches.

"It got me back to my core, and when I started as a DJ, I loved making people dance," Jon told the AP. "That's what I'm getting back to."

Diddy advises 50 Cent to shut up

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For years, 50 Cent has been known for starting problems with high-profile rap artists. But, over time, people have fallen out of love with 50 Cent and fans have supported his rivals. Even without a major fanbase, 50 Cent was still among the top hip hop earners.

However, when the recent reports were leaked to the public, 50 Cent was not a cash king. Focusing on rebuilding his G-Unit brand, 50 Cent has been sending shots at Diddy and Jay-Z. For the most part, he did not recieve a response from either one of them.

Recently, a "secret conversation" took place between Jay-Z and the aforementioned 50 Cent. Following the conversation, 50 agreed to no longer diss Jay-Z. 50 Cent said he would also consider ending his issues with Diddy following their talk. While 50 Cent was considering the issue, Diddy was doing all he could to reach Fif.

Having built his brand over fifteen years ago and riding in cruise control ever since, Diddy advised 50 Cent to shut his mouth if he wanted to make corporate money. Aside from his epic 2003 debut, 50 Cent has made most of his money through the hip hop market. Meanwhile, Diddy got his start in hip hop and has branched out to the point where he rarely makes music, let alone diss anyone. Diddy is trying to get 50 to understand he can be making the same type of money if he stops talking about other rappers.

50 Cent no longer Has Issues with Jay-Z

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Last year, 50 Cent ignited a feud with Jay-Z out of nowhere in hopes of reviving his career. Sadly, the most he got was a simple stare from Hov. Repeatedly, 50 Cent brought his name into anything he had going on. No matter what he said, Jay-Z would not respond.

Following a year's worth of disses, it has become abundantly clear Jay-Z has no plans of responding. Having just become the top hip hop earner for yet another year, Jay has no time for bickering. Ever since his beef with Nas, Jay-Z has shifted his focus to brand building.

Recently, 50 Cent and Jay-Z had a conversation in which 50 picked up the vibe that their feud is over. But, for an official confirmation, 50 Cent said people will have to get in touch with Jay-Z. In addition to speaking with Jay-Z about their issues, 50 said he spoke with Diddy the night before and they have also resolved their issues.

Nicki Minaj talks "Pink Friday" debut

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Having been on the mixtape scene for three years, Nicki Minaj made her entrance into the game last year. Ever since joining Young Money, she has completely revived the female rap game. Earlier this year, Nicki collaborated with Ludacris, Usher, and many others, along with feuding with Lil' Kim.

It is hard to believe Nicki Minaj has yet to release an album with all she has done. Her single, "Your Love," was released right at the start of summer and is still receiving heavy radio play. Despite being the hottest rapper in the game, Nicki Minaj is nervous about the release of her debut album.

With Pink Friday coming before the end of this year, the female rap game is focusing on Nicki. For this album, Minaj has the pressure on her and needs to bring her A-game. Even with the accomplishments so early in her career, Nicki Minaj feels the weight of every future female rapper in the game. She feels if she does not do as well as expected, Young Money will not sign more female rappers.

Bang 'Em Smurf prepares New Mixtape "Blacklisted"

By Mikey T The Movie Star
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Since being ousted from G-Unit, Bang 'Em Smurf and Domination have been hitting the indie hip hop scene pretty hard. Despite not being a part of the 2003-2005 run by G-Unit, the duo has done very well for themselves. Their names may not ring bells to the average hip hop fans, but the real hip hop heads know.

Quickly, the two rappers created their own label, Feed Da Wolves Entertainment. Through this new label, both rappers have been releasing their work in independent shops, online, and to street vendors. Even though their videos have yet to make it to popular outlest, such as BET and MTV, Bang 'Em Smurf and Domination have still done well.

Currently, Bang 'Em Smurf is working on his next project, a mixtape called Blacklisted. This mixtape will deal with what has happened since his prison sentence and the following deportation back to his native, Trinidad. In his time back home, Smurf has been working with local artists and throwing shows. The main two artists he works with is a newcomer, Young Dice. On the mixtape, though, work has come from Rick Ross and Fredro Starr.

The first single from the mixtape, "Man's Man," has been released to several hip hop websites.

Nicki Minaj deems "Tha Carter IV" a Classic

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Recently, Nicki Minaj talked about her partner-in-rhyme who remains behind bars, Lil Wayne. Wayne revealed he would be releasing Tha Carter IV on November 4, 2010, the same day he is set to be released from prison.

While Lil Wayne has been in prison, Nicki Minaj and her ex-husband, Drake, have been holding the game down. There are some who argue they have more talent than Lil Wayne. Two years ago, Wayne warned fans of how good they were.

Despite Lil Wayne passing the baton, Nicki Minaj is still convinced he has more left in the tank. Having spent nine months in prison, Nicki Minaj is sure he is sitting on a classic. Because of the artist he is, Nicki knows he has some heat.

Two months before the album has even leaked a single, Nicki Minaj is already promising fans the album will be a classic. Another album due in November is her debut, Alter Ego.

T.I. and Tiny land in Hot Water

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Late last year, T.I. was blessed when he was released from prison early on good behavior. The Atlanta rapper made a promise to his fans, friends, and family to do better. Early this summer, T.I. began making public appearances and it was clear he had changed. But, it appears as if he may be reverting back to his old ways.

T.I. and his newlywed wife, Tiny, were cruising in Los Angeles, when they were pulled over by the police. The officers said they found ecstasy and meth-amphetamines in his vehicle. He and Tiny were pulled over for a simple traffic violation when the officers smelled marijuana in the vehcile.

Fresh out of prison, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said T.I. faces up to a year in prison. He also faces multiple fines that will be determined by the judge. Both entertainers were booked on felony charges and released on $10,000 bail.

Young Buck is determined to Take G-Unit down

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Late last year, Young Buck attempted to broker peace with 50 Cent and G-Unit. Buck felt if he were able to butter 50 Cent up, he would release him from his contract. Instead, all he got was a sound reminder of how 50 Cent does business. He was dissed on his song, "So Disrespectful," along with Game.

No longer playing nice, Young Buck hit back hard when the New Year came. Buck vowed on one of his diss tracks that he would successfully end G-Unit. With the crew getting weaker by the day, it appeared possible, but hits are coming again. Even with G-Unit landing a new deal, Buck is confident.

Because 50 Cent has been jerking him around, Young Buck has decided to sue him for $5 million. He has also informed the people about his bankruptcy. Buck filed in order to organize his finances, not because he was in need of money. As long as he continues to pay $12,500 a month, Young Buck is able to keep all his possessions.

While Young Buck is officially off G-Unit Records, he is not suing 50 Cent for $5 million. The rumors have possibly given fuel to Young Buck, but he did not have anything of the sort planned. After losing three years of his career to 50 Cent and G-Unit Records, Young Buck is just glad to be able to move on and in one piece.

Lil Wayne to collaborate with Tech N9ne

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

In only a few years, Lil Wayne made himself into the biggest icon in the rap game. Feeling as if he has mastered the rap game, Wayne ventured out into other genres. Earlier this year, he released a rock album, Rebirth, before returning to hip hop.

Following the release of Rebirth, Lil Wayne went to prison. During his first interview from behind bars, Wayne spoke of future collaborators. In his time in the game, there are not too many people Lil Wayne has not worked with. Surprisingly, he said he wanted to work with Tech N9ne.

Surprised himself, Tech N9ne said he was thankful that Lil Wayne gave him the shout out. With the New Orleans rapper preapring to be released in November, Tech N9ne said something can be arranged. It has been some months in the making, but it's coming.

With Lil Wayne set to be out of prison in less than ninety days, Tech N9ne is preparing for the biggest collaboration of his career.

DJ Khaled hypes possible Eminem collabo

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Ever since Eminem returned to the game, the new leaders of hip hop have been trying to get a hold of him. Eminem quickly recorded with Lil Wayne and even did work with Drake. But, the biggest collaborator in hip hop, DJ Khaled, is still waiting. It has been one year and Eminem has yet to share a track with the former Terror Squad DJ.

Having taken over the game and unleashed Rick Ross to the world, DJ Khaled feels big. Khaled felt even bigger when he was able to broker peace between Fat Joe and Jay-Z. While correcting most of the problems in the hip hop world, the most elusive prize for DJ Khaled would be a collaboration with Eminem.

There have been rumors about Eminem hopping on a Khaled track for a year, but nothing has come from these rumors. Both DJ Khaled and Eminem remain open to the possibility. A few months ago, there were rumors of 50 Cent blocking the possible collaboration due to his dislike for DJ Khaled. But, after Eminem publicly took the stage with Lil Wayne after performing with 50 and his exit from Interscope to EMI, nothing stands in the way of a collaboration besides a few phone calls.

Recently, DJ Khaled stirred the pot, once again, when he told MTV he thinks a collaboration with Eminem would be something the fans will not forget. The possibility of working with Eminem excites DJ Khaled and he said their music, combined, would rip the streets apart.
