Is Tyler, the Creator the new Eminem?

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Last month, Donald Trump made the statement about Mac Miller being the next Eminem. While some pundits took offense, Mac Miller laughed it off. Skin color is the only thing Eminem and newcomer Mac Miller have in common.

Early in his career, Eminem was known for making dark music. Following a battle with drugs, among other things, Eminem changed his music. His last album, Recovery, was Eminem's positive turn. But, he still gets dark from time-to-time.

Tyler, the Creator has been making music for some time. But, he did not truly enter stardom until earlier this year. His single, "Yonkers," has built a cult following over the past few months. With Eminem now making positive music, Tyler, the Creator has filled the void of hip hop's dark rapper.

Growing up, Tyler, the Creator looked up to Eminem for inspiration. Recently, the two rappers met while overseas. Fans are hoping for a collaboration between the two artists, as Eminem has collaborated with a number of newcomers. But, for the most part, Eminem is making more Recovery-style music and the dark market has been filled by Tyler, the Creator. With Tyler, the Creator emerging, is he, instead of Mac Miller, the next Eminem, style-wise?

Yesterday, Mac Miller stopped by Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club." During his interview, Mac Miller discussed a wide range of topics. Among the topics were his relationship with Wiz Khalifa and the comparisons to Eminem.

Because of his success on the independent level, many are wondering if Mac Miller will sign to a major label. Addressing the question, Mac Miller said he has not made any decisions about a major label. Instead, Mac said he would wait to see what happens next.

Speaking on his relationship with Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller explained how they are both signed to Rostrum Records. He said the two are free to work together as much as they would like to. However, Mac Miller said he wants to build his fan base more before collaborating with Wiz Khalifa.

Mac Miller also spoke on Donald Trump's Eminem comparisons again. Questioning those who actually got upset, Mac Miller said how can anyone take those comments seriously. It was obvious the only reason Trump knew who he was was because of the "Donald Trump" song. Obviously, Donald Trump does not know much about hip hop music. Mac Miller went on to say he does not care who he is compared to because he is going to be himself regardless.

By The Hip Hop Writer

Last week, Donald Trump addressed Mac Miller and his song in his namesake. While Trump said he did not appreciate the lyrics of the song, he did say Mac Miller has a promising future. The real estate mogul said Mac Miller was the next Eminem.

Trump's statement inspired the article on Hip Hop Vibe, about the Pittsburgh rapper topping Eminem. The article focused on Mac Miller topping Eminem, from a statistical standpoint. The only true comparisons the rappers have is their color of skin.

Following Donald Trump's statement and Hip Hop Vibe's article about the statement, Mac Miller speaks. In the time since the comparison was made, Mac Miller said many people have been saying that. But, Mac feels people should not read too much into the statement.

Mac Miller said the only reason Donald Trump compared him to Eminem was because he is a white rapper building buzz. The internet sensation went on to say it is not like Donald Trump knows very much about the hip hop landscape. While many were focused on Trump's statement, Mac Miller was excited because of the fact Donald Trump acknowledged him.

Mac Miller went on to say he is focused on getting to Donald Trump's letter and will reach out to him about using one of his private jets.

Once Kanye West released My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, he was back on top of the game. Late in the summer, he released the first single, "Power." A short video was released in promotion of the album and "Runaway" was promoted as the next single.

"Runaway" became a minor hit, but the album has sold very well over the past few months. Some credit Kanye West for saving the state of hip hop in 2010. Recently, he has been receiving heavy radio play for his "All of the Lights" single.

With Rihanna, Kanye West performed the song during halftime at the 2011 NBA All-Star Game. Upon seeing the performance, Donald Trump was heated with Rihanna after she backed out of his gig for her, claiming to be sick. Now, the video has caused trouble.

Earlier this week, the official video for "All of the Lights" was released and now Kanye West is being accused of stealing the theme from a movie. Many video critics have panned the video for the popular single for that lone reason. He is being accused of biting the video for the French film, Enter the Void. The producers of the French film have not commented on the Kanye West video.
