Ludacris tops Billboard Hot 100 for Fifth Time

Ten years ago, when he first came into the game, there were a lot of people who doubted Ludacris. He was written off as a fad, but he would become one of the top rappers in the game. Fast forward to 2010 and he is the biggest rapper out right now. In the past, he has recorded hits, but a lot of people would say that he had been on the decline since 2006.

Before the release of his 2006 album, Release Therapy, Luda would shave his trademark braids in favor of a fade. Not only would he change his hair, but he also changed his style. That album only socred two hits for Ludacris. Two years later, he would return with his next album, Theater of the Mind. That album would not score any notable hits. "One More Drink" did receive moderate airplay.

It was after that album that Ludacris said that he was going to retire in order to make room for his film career. His final project was supposed to be Cineplex, a sequel to his 2008 album. However, he had been promising an album with his label-mate, Shawnna, for almost three years. Last year, they were supposed to release Battle of the Sexes, when she pulled out at the last minute and signed to T-Pain's Nappy Boy label. Because of this, Ludacris took the entire album upon himself.

While recording this album, Ludacris fell back in love with the music. His latest single off of the album, "Break your Heart," with Tao Cruz has become the fifth single to feature Ludacris and top the Billboard Hot 100. His album, Battle of the Sexes, is currently in stores.
