Hip Hop fills NAACP Awards' nominations

Multiple black leaders have had negative things to say about hip hop over the past few years. Their has always been a less-than-friendly relationship between hip hop and the black leaders. Since the young black children are watching the rappers, the black leaders feel the hip hop community should be setting a better example.

In recent years, hip hop music has become more explicit. Four years ago, several black leaders, including Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, decided to bury the "n-word." Only months after the supposed death of the word, Nas tried to name his album Nigger. In 2008, Lil Wayne infamously called out the Rev. Al Sharpton on his "Dontgetit" song off Tha Carter III.

Hip hop has continued to irk the black leaders and has continued with the most-recent NAACP Awards nominations. LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Kanye West, Cee Lo, and Willow Smith are all up for awards at the 42nd Annual NAACP Awards, which will air on March 4 on FOX.
