Ja Rule tired of Sequel Albums

In 2009, Jay-Z started a trend when he returned to the game with The Blueprint 3. After Jay-Z released his album, many veterans released sequel albums. Ja Rule had planned to also release a sequel album to his 1999 debut. But, after the trend started by Jay-Z, he decided not to.

Instead, Ja Rule began recording yet another album with a different theme. He began promoting a new release called, The Renaissance Project. The album was to be released sometime in 2010, but it did not come. Now, with his upcoming prison sentence, fans will have to wait longer.

Over the past few years, Ja Rule has appeared more as a hip hop commentator instead of a player. With more sequel albums coming, Ja Rule recently spoke his piece. Despite his plans of releasing a sequel album, he no longer thinks it is a good idea. Because everyone is doing it, Ja Rule thinks the rest of the rappers need to do something different than the next man.

Hip hop is about originality and the sequel album within itself is a copycat move so Ja Rule is right on many levels with this statement.
