Despite being one of the youngest rappers in the game, Soulja Boy has considered retirement. Ever since he has been releasing albums, each release has been met with negative reviews. Aside from popular singles, Soulja Boy has not sold very well, either.
Soulja Boy was used to all of the negative press, it did not get to him before. The plan was for Soulja Boy to prove all of his critics wrong. Following a sluggish start, his second album did fairly well and Soulja Boy cranked out three hit singles.
But, Soulja Boy intended to truly win fans over with The DeAndre Way album. On this album, Soulja Boy wanted to prove he was more than a pop rapper. Despite his best efforts, Soulja Boy's album was met with negative reviews and record-low sales.
Months after the low-selling album, Soulja Boy suffered the loss of his brother. With everything pounding on him at once, Soulja Boy nearly considered retiring. Apparently, Soulja Boy is past retirement mode, as he is in discussion with Cash Money Records about a development deal.
