Hip hop has gone a long way from simply being a hobby for the urban youth. Over the past few decades, hip hop has proven to be a viable genre, becoming one of the biggest. Initially, the major record labels were the primary people profiting off hip hop. These industry veterans were soon replaced by the Russell Simmons-type businessmen of the hip hop genre and then the rappers, themselves, took control of the business.

There are many rappers in the game who have gone from having buzz to becoming dominant to now being the heads of corporate giants. Among the names are Jay-Z and 50 Cent, but there are many more and Hip Hop Vibe will take a deep look at these rappers who have built their brands into companies. Each rapper has a unique story to tell and it will all be posted here.

Beginning on June 20, 2011, Hip Hop Vibe will chronicle the top ten rappers who have turned executives, based on their status of 2011.
