Describing the album, J. Cole said his album will be "really heavy," not wanting to brag off himself. J. Cole said the album has the perfect balance between serious topics and party topics. All in all, J. Cole feels things could not have gone much better for him.

With the album close to complete, J. Cole said he might release a mixtape before the album drops. This mixtape would likely consist of the songs that did not make his album. J. Cole has not confirmed the mixtape or the album's release date.
