Since the release of his Decoded book, Jay-Z has risen to new heights as a businessman. In the book, Jay-Z writes about rap and how it should be considered poetry. Much like poetry, rap is spoken words, one person's emotion at one given time. Plus, like poetry, raps usually rhyme, or have rhythm.

Jay-Z said he hopes readers take one thing away from his book, rap should be considered poetry. Throughout the years, rap music has been known as a violent genre of music. But, Jay-Z points out how many different rappers are in the game. While some rappers are thugs, others are lovers.

The rapper compared his "Big Pimpin'" hit to "Meet the Parents," saying they were both party songs. While both songs are party songs, they have two entirely different meanings. Jay-Z went on to talk about some of the things written by rappers, The Notorious B.I.G. and Rakim. Aside from being raps, they were great pieces of literature.
