Initially, Game intended to retire following the release of his third studio album, L.A.X. Game had completed his contract with Geffen Records, but had to return to Interscope Records. Before his move to Geffen, Game was signed to Interscope. The Compton rapper still owed Interscope two more albums.

Early in 2009, Game began working on The R.E.D. Album and planned to release it before the end of the year. As he was completing the album, Game and Dr. Dre reunited. Soon, Game returned to Aftermath Entertainment and Dr. Dre delayed the album so he could work on it.

The R.E.D. Album was delayed until a 2011 release date. Game said he would record one more album after this. On his current hit single, "Pot of Gold," he said he would "give Interscope two more albums" and then he was done for good. Only weeks after the release of the video, Game announced he would sign to Cash Money Records after he was done at Interscope Records.

Barely done with The R.E.D. Album, Game has already teamed up with 1500 Or Nothin' Mars to begin working on his fifth studio album. Game said this fifth album will be his final album. More than likely, Game means this will be his final Interscope album, as he will have delivered "two more albums" to the label at that point.
