One of Freeway's most-notable songs comes from his 2003 debut, Philadelphia Freeway. His "What We Do" track features Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z. Recently, Freeway revealed the song was originally only going to feature him.

Freeway recorded the song at the Baseline Studios, which was owned by Roc-A-Fella Records. When recording music, the studio would usually be filled with other artists from the Roc. In the studio recording, "What We Do," Freeway asked for advice.

Jay-Z happened to be in the studio when Freeway was recording the song. Freeway asked Jay-Z to do an ad-lib for the song. Following his "keep going" ad-lib, Jay-Z decided to record a verse for the song. After Jay-Z recorded a verse for the song, Beanie Sigel also decided to put in a verse for the song.
