Mos Def retiring his name at the end of 2011, will be known as Yasiin

During an interview with MTV2's "Sucker Free," the legendary Mos Def announced some changes in the near future. At the end of 2011, Mos Def will no longer be making music. While the Mos Def named will be retired, the rapper will continue to record.

While Mos Def said he loves his rap name, he feels it is time to move on. Starting on January 1, 2012, he will be known as Yasiin. For over twenty years, he has been recording as Mos Def. Forever, the name will be remembered.

Mos Def said the name has been with him throughout his career. While known as Mos Def, he became the man he is today, but he is now focused on the future.
