It was not until 2003 when the world was properly introduced to Murphy Lee. In the eyes of the public, Murphy Lee was Nelly's sidekick. After all, he was a member of the St. Lunatics and he was signed to Derrty Ent. In his official debut, Murphy Lee appeared alongside Nelly and Diddy (then known as P. Diddy) on "Shake Ya Tailfeather," a song on the Bad Boys II soundtrack.

"Shake Ya Tailfeather" topped the Billboard Hot 100 during the late summer of 2003. In an effort to build Murphy Lee's buzz, the single was featured on his debut album, Murphy's Law. Murphy Lee scored another hit in the fall of 2003 with "What The Hook Gon Be." But, after a minor hit with Jazze Pha, "Luv Me Baby," Murphy Lee faded into the background.

While Murphy Lee received much media attention and acclaim during the 2003-2004 period, Murphy Lee had been a superstar in St. Louis for far longer. For those who have wondered where Murphy Lee is and say he has fallen off, he is where he always was, St. Louis. Despite fading out of the spotlight, Murphy Lee is still the man in St. Louis. No longer signed to Universal Records, Murphy Lee is now the head of his own label, U C Me Entertainment. The label is one of the top labels in the area and Murphy Lee is also still signed with Derrty Ent.

However, in St. Louis, Murphy Lee is respected as the top emcee and their most popular. Many of the other rappers to make it big from St. Louis are either not releasing much music or focused on other ventures. This is not the case with Murphy Lee, as he is making his own music, developing the talent on his label, focusing on his artist, Freaky Muscato. While he has not released an album since You See Me, in 2009, Murphy Lee has kept the mixtape scene hot. To the public, Murphy Lee has disappeared, but in St. Louis, it is business as usual, as Murphy Lee has been keeping the mixtape scene hot for well over a decade.
