"Tha Carter IV" already certified Platinum

On "John," Lil Wayne rapped "prepare for the worst, but still praying for the best." When it came to the sales of Tha Carter IV, Wayne told his team not to worry. During the first week, his 2008 album, Tha Carter III sold 1.1 million copies. Lil Wayne did not want to pressure himself with the same burden on Tha Carter IV.

Initially, the predictions for Tha Carter IV's first week sales were around 700,000 copies. Before the end of the week, projections had risen to 900,000 copies and finally 1 million copies. Last week, the album broke the record set, only weeks before, by The Throne's album, Watch the Throne, on iTunes.

Lil Wayne has lived up to the projections on Tha Carter IV with the album selling a little over 1 million copies in its first full week out. Already, the Young Money CEO will be handed a platinum plaque.
