There are many citizens of the United States who believe marijuana (weed) should be legalized. Over the past few years, steps in the right direction have been made. Of those steps have been the authorization of medical marijuana.

It has been proven marijuana does improve eye sight and can ease the pain of the terminally ill. Because of this, medical marijuana has been distributed. In California, it has seemed as if marijuana, as a whole, was close to being legalized.

Marijuana has been a staple in the hip hop culture for decades. Many people, around the United States, have been able to obtain medical marijuana cards. But, most simply smoke the marijuana without permission. In California, several "pot shops" have been opened, as they sell medical marijuana. Ever since their inception, the "pot shops" have been at war with the federal government. It has been ruled, by the government, that the "pot shops" were violating federal law.

Now, the feds have cracked down on the overall marijuana industry. Serveral San Diego "pot shops" have already been shut down.

The federal government issued the statement below:
“Under United States law, a dispensary’s operations involving sales and distribution of marijuana are illegal and subject to criminal prosecution and civil enforcement actions,” according to the letters signed by U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy in San Diego. “Real and personal property involved in such operations are subject to seizure by and forfeiture to the United States … regardless of the purported purpose of the dispensary.”
