Despite becoming a frequent hitmaker, Rick Ross has also faced a major backlash. Among other things, Ross has been called fake by many. His persona is that of a drug lord, when he worked as a correctional officer. In addition to this, his name comes from a real drug lord.

Upon getting out of prison, Ricky "Freeway" Ross, filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross over his name and style. The lawsuit was settled out of court. Rick Ross' rivals in the rap game have used that for numerous diss tracks. Not too long removed, Rick Ross is facing more trouble.

His popular 2010 album, Teflon Don, is the center of a new lawsuit. A lawsuit was filed by Teflon Don, a rapper whose real name is Donald Askey, Jr. Askey has filed a suit against Def Jam, Slip-N-Slide Records, DJ Khaled, Universal Music Group, Maybach Music Group, and Rick Ross for trademark infringement.

Askey claims he was working with DJ Khaled, back in 2007, three years before Rick Ross released his album, Teflon Don. This was actually proven, as Khaled gave him a shout out "to my homie Teflon Don, we the best." Teflon Don, the rapper, said Rick Ross' music has also hindered his growth, as Ross rhymes are negative, while his rhymes are positive. Many of Teflon Don's fans are turned off by the Rick Ross album, which was named after his stage name.

Teflon Don said the Teflon Don album and Rick Ross' budget has hindered his growth as an artist.

By The Hip Hop Writer

Clearly Dr. Dre is bigger than the rap game. Three years ago, he launched his own headphone line. The line, Beats by Dre, was trendsetting and many other rappers have created lines.

Freeway Ricky Ross returned to prominence when the rapper, Rick Ross, emerged. Many of Ross' rhymes are centered around his life. Freeway soon teamed with 50 Cent during their beef.

With most of the beef in the past, Freeway Ricky Ross has moved on to legitimate ventures. The former drug lord is giving back to the community. He is the head of the community-based L.A. Can Dance.

The dance competition is for Los Angeles children from grade school to high school. Dr. Dre decided he should donate autographed headphones to Freeway Ricky Ross for the children. After making his millions, he has become one of the more-generous celebrities.

The Real Rick Ross is suing Rick Ross

Rick Ross has based his career off of drug kingpin, Freeway Ricky Ross. The rapper Ross discovered the drug trafficker through his former job. Before his time as a rapper, Rick Ross worked in law enforcement. For a while, the two Rick Rosses operated on different sides of the law.

When it was revealed what Rick Ross' original job was and how he discovered Freeway Ricky Ross, the golves were off. The original Rick Ross made it clear he was not friends with the rapper. Often times, he would be seen on video dissing Rick Ross. Then, when 50 Cent began feuding with Ross, he joined in.

The only difference between now and then is the fact that the original Rick Ross is out from prison. Now, he feels he has grounds to sue. The former police officer, Rick Ross, has built his fortune off of a lifestyle in which Freeway Ricky Ross lived. Because of the lifestyle he lived, Freeway Ricky Ross found himself in prison. Meanwhile, Rick Ross gave up his job as a police officer to rap about this man's life.

Probably needing a source of income after losing everything when he was busted, Freeway Ricky Ross has decided to sue Rick Ross. The main reason for the suit is over the name, less than the lifestyle the rapper has glorified over the past four years.
