Years ago, many people began criticizing hip hop because of the lack of lyrics. By the fall of 2006, hip hop appeared to be on an all-time lyrical low. However, many rappers tried to step their game up when Nas called hip hop out. Everyone has given their opinion on hip hop in the time since.
Lil Wayne helped bring lyricism back when he released his multi-platinum success, Tha Carter III. The album's "A Milli" single helped turn Bangladesh into a superstar producer. But, following the release of the single, Bangladesh sued Wayne over the beat and the two feuded for nearly three years.
Last year, Bangladesh and Lil Wayne called a truce and the result was "6 Foot 7 Foot." The song is currently one of the biggest hits on the radio. Bangladesh also has upcoming records with the other Young Money artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj. When speaking about hip hop, Bangladesh said they are bringing lyrics back to hip hop.
Aside from the crew he works with the most, Bangladesh also credited Jay-Z and Kanye West for re-introducing lyrics to the game. Jay-Z has been credited as one of hip hop's most lyrical forces for years and Kanye West gains more and more respect by the day. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West's last album, was met with critical acclaim. Currently, Jay-Z and Kanye West are working on a new album, which features their own critically-acclaimed single, "H.A.M."
