For well over twenty years, Dr. Dre has been one of the biggest names in hip hop. At one point or another, any major rapper in the game has crossed pathes with him. While Dr. Dre will not go down in history for his lyrical ability, many consider him to be the greatest producer of all-time.
Single-handedly, Dr. Dre made Eazy-E into a marketable rap star, along with Ice Cube's lyrics. When Dr. Dre left Ruthless Records, the impact was felt. Eazy-E's career fell off and Snoop Dogg emerged as the new West Coast star. Dr. Dre has been doing this throughout his career.
Following Snoop Dogg's success, Dr. Dre molded Eminem into the beast of hip hop. With Eminem, they helped make 50 Cent into the biggest star hip hop had ever seen. In the middle of 50's reign, Dre made Game into the biggest sensation from California since Snoop Dogg. Along the way, there have been a few flops, but Dr. Dre has created several stars.
While Knoc-Turn'Al and Xzibit never took over the rap game, each of them posted successful hits because they were associated with Dr. Dre. After being away from the game for twelve years, Dr. Dre has released one single and it has taken the radio by storm. "I Need a Doctor" is the biggest hit of 2011 and will likely remain that way with the summer right around the corner. Hits such as this come effortlessly for Dr. Dre, because of this, is he the real king of hip hop?
