Twenty-five years have passed since Eric B & Rakim released their "Eric B is President" single. Their 1986 single served as promotion for their 1987 debut, Paid in Full. With twenty-five years passing since their debut, Eric B & Rakim are now eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Several rappers have been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but few have made it. Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. LL Cool J and Afrika Baambatta are among the rappers who were nominated. Obviously, both rappers did not make it past the voting stages.

According to The New York Times, the nominees were selected by 40 critics and musicologists. Now, the nominees will be sent to 500 people. The 500 people are industry insiders, critics, and artists. These people will vote to decide who belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In November, the inductees will be announced.
