Diggy Simmons promises to keep records Curse Free

By The Hip Hop Writer

While hip hop is all about self-expression, over the years rhymes have been filled with obscenities and harsh lyrics. Among the people who helped turn hip hop mainstream was Run-DMC. The trio was known for their Raising Hell album, among other famous songs.

There were minor curses in Run-DMC's music and they were considered offensive, at the time. As he grew older, Run got saved and became a preacher. To the new audience, he is better known as Rev Run. Leaving an iconic legacy in the rap game, his children want to follow in his footsteps.

Both JoJo and Diggy Simmons have begun rap careers, with the latter being signed to Atlantic Records. While JoJo curses in his records, Diggy promised his music would be something everyone could listen to. Diggy said if he were to say certain things, people would wonder how Rev Run feels about this and he does not want to make the family look bad, as the child of a preacher.

Diggy Simmons said he would never say anything that would bring shame to his family, but he would also continue to be himself. Regardless of his success, Diggy said he would always be himself, which is person who does not curse. Diggy said he is not trying to be clean, he feels he can still dominate the game without using profanity. Never has he even thought about cursing when he gets older, as other teen-rappers-turned-adult stars, Lil Wayne and Bow Wow did.

By The Hip Hop Writer

Last week, DMC spoke on DMX's comeback, giving the troubled rapper his endorsement. When hip hop first went commercial, DMC was there for it all. The rapper was one-third of the legendary hip hop trio, Run-DMC.

Over time, new movements emerged in hip hop and Run-DMC was overlooked. Currently, Run is a preacher and has taken on the moniker Rev Run. Jam Master Jay was brutally murdered during the fall of 2002. DMC has been working on several projects.

Now, his most important project is working on his comeback album. Despite not releasing new music in years, DMC has stayed in the middle of the hip hop mix. DMC has recruited Travis Barker and other rockers for his album.

DMC described his comeback as "King of Rock" on steroids.

By The Hip Hop Writer

With DMX trying to land a comeback, many now take him as a joke. Earlier in his career, DMX was one of the most-revered rappers in the game. But, when his drug addictions became popular news, he began losing the respect of many fans.

DMC, one third of the legendary Run-DMC, has spoke out in behalf of DMX. It has been years since DMC has been a star in the game. However, he has been remembered as a legend in the game. Many have forgotten, or never knew, DMC had drug addictions, too.

Recently, DMC spoke out in behalf of DMX. He said X was the only rapper who kept it real. While his run was overlooked by the runs of Jay-Z and Ja Rule, DMC talked about how DMX rapped about what he felt, regardless of what the people thought. One minute, X would be hardcore, and the next, he would be praying for his grandmother. DMC has respected that about him and said he is better than 98% of the rappers in the game. He reminded people, everyone was created equally.

DMX is currently on the comeback trail and one of his biggest supporters is DMC.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Late in 2009, Diggy Simmons began recording music. As a part of the legendary Simmons family, rapping comes natural to Diggy. Ever since 2007, his older brother, JoJo, has been recording with Team BLACKOUT. The group was compared to Run-DMC by many close to them.

Early in 2010, Diggy shocked rap fans when Atlantic Records announced they had signed him. JoJo's group had been recording for three years and had a minor deal with Koch Records. Many gossip sites tried to create friction between the brothers. This all ended when their sister, Angela, stepped in and diffused the rumors.

Last spring, Diggy Simmons released a video and he has been featured in several commercials. Even with a major label deal and being a "rich kid," Diggy Simmons has remained grounded. Recently, he discussed being featured on XXL as one of the 2011 Freshmen rappers. Despite being featured, Diggy said there are plenty of people who do not even know he raps.
