John Singleton in talks to direct NWA biopic

Had it not been for John Singleton, Ice Cube may not have transitioned into Hollywood. When Singleton cast Ice Cube in his 1991 film, Boyz N The Hood, as "Doughboy," it shocked fans and critics. However, the film inspired Ice Cube to search for more movie roles, which led him becoming a film producer.
Twenty years later, Ice Cube is working on an NWA biopic and he is looking for a director. Naturally, Ice Cube is getting in touch with John Singleton. The film, an NWA biopic is going by the working title of Straight Outta Compton. While nothing is finalized, the film is close to gaining distribution with New Line.
Ice Cube has had a working relationship with New Line Cinema for some time. While things are looking up, John Singleton has not confirmed anything. The potential director said he does not like to speak on things until they happen. Currently, he and Ice Cube are talking and he loves the script of the film and New Line is ready to make it happen.
