Eazy-E's daughter also wants in on NWA biopic, says Eazy-E's role should not be a given to Her Brother

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

At the time of his death, Eazy-E's children were small, but they are now all grown up. Eazy-E enjoyed a brief run on top of the rap game. More than anything, Eazy-E was known for being the leader of NWA. While the group ended in a battle, they all came together when Eazy-E died.

Sixteen years after his death, there have been several documentaries about his legacy. However, there has yet to be any actual films about Eazy-E. In 2009, The Notorious B.I.G. had a bio-pic produced, but the actual people were not pleased by the movie.

With Eazy-E's bio-pic, Ice Cube, his former group-mate is producing the film. Eazy-E's son, a rapper who calls himself Lil' Eazy-E, said he should play the role of Eazy-E. He said he has the look and he already knows the history, so he should be the man for the job. Lil' Eazy-E was hoping for support in his bid to play his father, but he has a little opposition.

This opposition is coming from his own sister, Erin Wright. During an interview with Black Voices, Erin stated Lil' Eazy should not be given the role because he is a junior. Eazy-E has four sons and Erin Wight says they all resemble Eazy-E in their own way. She feels her brother should audition, just like everyone else and win the role, instead of having it handed to him. Showing she was not simply dissing her brother, Erin Wright said she would also love to audition for a role in the film.

The film is called Straight Outta Compton and is named after NWA's debut single and album in 1988. Ice Cube, a former member of the group, is serving as the executive producer for the piece. Currently, the script is being worked on and casting will begin shortly.

Lil' Eazy-E, the son of Eazy-E, wants to be cast in the film. Coming as a surprise to no one, he wants to play the role of Eazy-E. Speaking on the possible role, Lil' Eazy said he is the perfect man for the job. Knowing the history, already, and being Eazy-E's son, Lil' Eazy-E said he does not even need makeup for the role.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Had it not been for John Singleton, Ice Cube may not have transitioned into Hollywood. When Singleton cast Ice Cube in his 1991 film, Boyz N The Hood, as "Doughboy," it shocked fans and critics. However, the film inspired Ice Cube to search for more movie roles, which led him becoming a film producer.

Twenty years later, Ice Cube is working on an NWA biopic and he is looking for a director. Naturally, Ice Cube is getting in touch with John Singleton. The film, an NWA biopic is going by the working title of Straight Outta Compton. While nothing is finalized, the film is close to gaining distribution with New Line.

Ice Cube has had a working relationship with New Line Cinema for some time. While things are looking up, John Singleton has not confirmed anything. Jay Rock talks Rick Ross collaboration and Dr. Dre's influence

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

When people discuss the revival of West Coast hip hop, they usually end up mentioning Jay Rock. The rapper rose to national fame over a year ago. Legendary West Coast rapper, Ice Cube, decided to name his album I Am the West. The title of the album caused Jay Rock to speak out.

Jay Rock stayed in the news for most of 2010 just because he had something to say about Ice Cube. But, with the feud in the past, the focus is back on his debut album. The Strange Music rapper is determined to bring the West back with his album, Follow me Home.

The album will feature a collaboration with Rick Ross, a major boost for a newcomer. Produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, "Finest Hour" will likely be a single off the upcoming album. Jay Rock said he recorded his part of the record in Atlanta and ran into Rick Ross and Birdman in Miami. During their encounter, he asked Rick Ross to be on the record and he agreed.

While Dr. Dre does not provide any production for the album, he has been working with Jay Rock on the album. Jay Rock credits Dr. Dre for his guidance while he has worked on this album. The Watts rapper revealed he mixed his album in Dr. Dre's studio. Dr. Dre mixed most of the songs on the album, including his first single, "All My Life." It has been big, to Jay Rock, to have him working so closely on his debut album, which will feature appearances from Will.i.am, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown.

Jay Rock's Follow Me Home is being prepared for a July 26 release date.

Lil B naming debut album "I'm Gay"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Throughout the history of hip hop, rappers have tried to show themselves as strong men. Not all rappers play the tough guy, but all of them project themselves as ladies men. Even the nerdy rappers object when they are accused of being gay.

Lil B is coming from one of hip hop's toughest regions, the West Coast. Preceeding him out West is Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Game, and many other gangsta rappers. Lil B often raps some hardcore lyrics, but he needs a boost.

In a tough market, rappers have to find ways to stand out. Lil B has definitely found a way to generate attention. His debut album, which will be released this summer, will be titled I'm Gay. Lil B said it was the most controversial thing a rapper could do.

While he is not gay, Lil B said he does have respect for the homosexual community. Lil B went on to say he loves women. The true definition of gay is happy and Lil B said he is very happy with his life. On his upcoming debut album, Lil B wants to express his happiness and the best way to do it is by giving the title to his album. Plus, no rapper in history has ever come out with such an album title.

Remembering Eazy-E (1963-1995)

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Dr. Dre is credited for giving gangsta rap its sound, but Eazy-E is the man who made all of this possible. Many call Eazy-E the godfather of gangsta rap. Through his Ruthless Records label, Eazy gave the world N.W.A. While the group did not stay together, they introduced the world to Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.

Had it not been for the influence of Eazy-E, Death Row Records would have never been established. Even in the middle of beef, Eazy-E found ways to profit. The feud between Eazy-E and Dr. Dre was never fully resolved, but most stories report Eazy-E had a percentage of all Death Row profits.

Sadly, Eazy-E died exactly fifteen years ago on March 26, 1995 from complications from the AIDS virus. Even his enemies came to the hospital to grieve, but Eazy never knew this. Making matters worse, he did not have the chance to fully enjoy the profits that came from his years of hard work. Today, the Hip Hop Vibe team will remember Eazy-E and all that he did for the hip hop community.

Throughout today, Eazy-E videos will be posted.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Last year, Jay Rock caused controversy when he challenged the legendary Ice Cube over his I Am The West album title. Cube was recording a new album and boasted of how he was saving West Coast hip hop. But, newcomer, Jay Rock, took offense to the comments made by the former NWA frontman.

Jay Rock and Ice Cube traded Twitter insults from early in the year right up until the summer. Their beef cooled down when Ice Cube shifted his attention to his TBS sitcom. Soon, the album was released and Jay Rock went back to recording. Under the radar, the Compton rapper is back to work with another former NWA member.

Dr. Dre has been working on Detox since 1999 with many release dates scattered throughout the past ten years. Recently, Dr. Dre has released singles from the album and has been working on actually releasing an actual album. Dre is even performing at the upcoming Grammys with Eminem in order to promote the album.

Recently, Jay Rock hit the studio with Dr. Dre and he said he was honored to be in the same room, let alone studio, with Dre. He acknowledged his legendary status and commended him on Detox. According to Jay Rock, the album is well worth the wait. With the release date still a few months away, Jay Rock said the album will go down as one of hip hop's classic albums. For the work on this album, Jay Rock said Dr. Dre deserves more than 100% respect, more along the lines of 112% respect.

Glasses Malone ready for Ice Cube feud

Last month, Ice Cube landed himself in hot water when he revealed the title of his latest album. Paying homage to the legacy that he helped to build, he titled his album, I Am The West. In the time since Death Row Records fell apart, the West Coast has struggled to gain footing. But, recently a new movement has been taking place.

One of the leaders of this new movement is Jay Rock, a native of Los Angeles. He took offense to the new title of Ice Cube's album and was willing to feud with Cube. The response that Cube gave him was not what Jay Rock expected and he began dissing the legend. Game soon stepped into the fray. Glasses Malone has now jumped in.

For the past week, Malone has had some choice words for both Game and Ice Cube. Recently, he spoke and he said that he is ready for war with Ice Cube. Glasses said that he respects the history that comes with Ice Cube, but that Ice Cube has to respect that people like him are a part of the future. Right now, he has no diss record for Cube, he simply wants Ice Cube to stop with all of the disses when he grew up admiring him.

Despite how he grew up, Glasses Malone is willing to fight to solidify his position in the rap game. If that means going against a legend, Glasses will go against a legend. He said that what Ice Cube is doing is not for the West Coast and it is not for hip hop. Instead, he said that Cube is on a Hollywood promotional run that will only benefit himself. He said that a feud with Ice Cube would not be person. Acknowledging that the original hip hop beefs were only for fun and in the spirit of competition, he could never have any personal problems with Ice Cube.

Ice Cube denies Dr. Dre feud, wants Collaboration

In his latest return to rap, Ice Cube has caused quite a stir within the industry. Right after his issues with the New West had died down, Cube released the new single from his album. The song in question is called "Drink The Kool-Aid." In the song, it appears that he is going at a lot of artists.

There were suggestions that the song contained a diss to his former rhyming partner, Dr. Dre. Once the song found its way back to Dre, he questioned Cube about it. In a recent talk with MTV, Cube spoke about the song. He said that Dr. Dre did ask him about the song, but he said it was not a diss to anyone.

Instead, Ice Cube said that the song was style and grace. Cube said that the internet was full of roaches because he told Dr. Dre that he would never diss him. He said that the relationship between himself and Dr. Dre is very strong. Their relationship is so strong that he has called upon Dre to help him out with his new album.
