When he was a part of NWA, early in his career, Ice Cube and the crew were known for wearing Oakland Raiders' apparel. During the 1980s, the Raiders were known as the bullies of the NFL. In many ways, NWA was the Oakland Raiders of hip hop.

Yesterday, the Oakland Raiders' owner, Al Davis, unexpectedly died, leaving a major hole in the sports world. Sports figures were not the only ones saddened by Davis' death. Ice Cube was also sad and called into the NFL Network to discuss Al Davis.

Ice Cube said the Davis-owned Raiders proved to the world you can be yourself and still win. Cube also said the Raiders were a rowdy bunch, long before NWA. Discussing NWA's use of Raiders' merchandise, Ice Cube said Al Davis' bank account surely loved what they were doing.
