Earlier this month, Birdman discussed the state of his company and announced release dates. Cash Money Records is prepared to release twelve albums this year. Among the artists releasing albums will be Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, and Drake. Lil Wayne's album is easily the most-anticipated album on the list.

Mack Maine, the president of Young Money, had once said Wayne would release Tha Carter IV the day he got out of prison. This was not the case, as Lil Wayne released I Am Not a Human Being a month before his prison release. Now, Lil Wayne says the album was done then.

Lil Wayne announced Tha Carter IV is done, but his manager will not release the album. While confirming May 16 as the official release date for Tha Carter IV, Lil Wayne said he could be comfortable putting the album out today if the fans really want it that bad. But, Wayne has promised the album will be coming in the near future.

Lil Wayne reunites with Play-N-Skillz and T-Pain

By The Hip Hop Writer

It appears as if Lil Wayne is attemping to make lightning strike in the same place twice. Three years ago, Lil Wayne made the jump from popular collaboration artist to rap superstar. He did this with popular songs and proper production. In 2008, Wayne proved he was more than a one hit wonder with "Got Money."

The song was produced by Play-N-Skillz and featured T-Pain on the hook. While "Got Money" was not as big of a hit as the lead single, "Lollipop," it was still a major single. It was a big deal for Lil Wayne to have two top ten singles at the same time. At this point, Lil Wayne had not had much commercial success.

But, after Tha Carter III, chart-topping singles became nothing to Lil Wayne. While in prison, he released a chart-topping album and a top ten single. When he came out, he began promoting another album only two months following the release of I Am Not a Human Being. The result has been his latest hit, "6 Foot 7 Foot."

Lil Wayne is determined to keep his streak going and he will be doing so by going back to what worked for him three years ago. Recently, Play-N-Skillz announced they were going back in the studio to work on the latest edition of Tha Carter. While in the studio, Lil Wayne also revealed he would be working with T-Pain for the first time since their 2008 collaborations. Wayne also admitted they would soon begin working on their T-Wayne group/album.

It seems as if 2011 will end up being the biggest year of Lil Wayne's career so far.

Barely one month out of prison and still promoting his I Am Not a Human Being album, Lil Wayne released "6 Foot, 7 Foot." It would be the lead single from the long-awaited Tha Carter IV. Promotion for the album began as the single began to gain traction.

Last month, Lil Wayne partnered with MTV for the official premiere of the "6 Foot, 7 Foot" video. The song has a strong following even after being out for months. Wayne planned to hold an interview with MTV, which would conclude with the official video premiere. But, the video premiere was delayed.

The delay was announced to the public, but the rescheduled date was not announced. Recently, Lil Wayne and MTV have announced the new date for the video premiere. The video was produced by Hype Williams and Wayne said the video will serve as promotion for Cory Gunz. Late last year, Cory Gunz joined Young Money and recorded on "6 Foot, 7 Foot."

Mack Maine says "Tha Carter IV" is Complete

By The Hip Hop Writer

For nearly three years, Lil Wayne has been talking about releasing Tha Carter IV. Following the success of 2008's Tha Carter III, rumors suggested the next Carter album would be released in October 2008. Instead, the announcement for 2010's Rebirth came.

In 2009, Lil Wayne planned to release Rebirth early in the year and Tha Carter IV later in the year. But, due to delays from the head label, Universal, Lil Wayne decided to release We Are Young Money in 2009. Early in 2010, Rebirth was finally released.

Later in 2010, Lil Wayne released I Am Not A Human Being from behind bars. Immediately following Wayne's release from prison, he began working on Tha Carter IV. Promotion of his rising single, "Right Above It," ended and all of the focus was on the new album. Finally, after over two years of discussion, Tha Carter IV is on the way, according to Mack Maine.

Mack Maine said David Banner is coming in to help Lil Wayne complete two more tracks and the album will be ready to go.

Lil Wayne almost done with "Tha Carter IV"

By The Hip Hop Writer

Not even two months since he has been out of prison and six months since the release of his last album and Lil Wayne is back at it. The New Orleans rapper came out of prison focused on regaining his throne. He immediately released his now hit single, "6'7" and his Tha Carter IV album is soon to follow.

Initially, Tha Carter IV was supposed to be released during the early stages of 2009. However, he instead opted to record the experimental Rebirth album. Along the way, he also recorded the album with Young Money and I Am Not a Human Being. Those albums were fillers for Tha Carter IV.

First, the creative process took him away from the record. Then, it was his impending prison sentence and his need to find a quick replacement. But, when he returned from prison, Lil Wayne finally had a minute to himself to breathe and he took advantage of it. The result of his time off will be his long-awaited Tha Carter IV.

So far, the album has collaborations from Rick Ross and Drake. After so many delays, Lil Wayne knows he cannot disappoint fans with a soft album. He is confident this album will easily outshine his 2008 effort and his masterpiece, Tha Carter III. The release of this album will come sometime after the release of Drake's second album, Take Care.

Eminem talks Lil Wayne and possible "Recovery" tour

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Only three years ago, Lil Wayne was establishing himself as the hottest rapper in the game. Despite being the biggest name in the game, Wayne wanted to work with other big names. The number one rapper on his list was Eminem. Each time Wayne tried to reach out to Eminem, he was met with no reply.

After Tha Carter III went triple platinum, things changed for Weezy as Eminem returned his call. During the summer of 2009, Wayne was able to officially sign Drake and Drake was able to land a collaboration with Eminem. While "Forever" was Drake's song, it was the first to feature both Wayne and Eminem.

The first Lil Wayne/Eminem collaboration came earlier this year on the Rebirth album in the form of "Drop the World." The result was the biggest single off the album. Realizing the two have chemistry, Em decided to invite Wayne to record on his Recovery album. Currently, their single, "No Love," is heating up the radio waves. The song is heating up right as Lil Wayne is preparing to come out of prison.

Eminem is very excited to see Lil Wayne come out of prison. Having been caged up since March, Eminem is excited to see what Wayne will come up with. Even though he was behind bars, Lil Wayne came out with his ninth studio album, I Am Not a Human Being last month. Now that he is free and with Carter on the brain, Em hopes he can finally jump on one of Lil Wayne's Carter albums. Outside of his work with Lil Wayne, there is the possibility of a tour for Recovery.

As it currently stands, Eminem does have a few shows he is putting on. However, the Detroit rapper does not have any plans to put together a full tour. Because he has been steadily moving since he began the promotion for Relapse, Eminem will not push himself as much in between albums. Later this year, Eminem is rumored to be going back into the studio to record his eighth studio album.
