Ice T endorses Brooklyn rapper, Knight

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For three years, Ice T has been speaking his mind about the new generation of rap artists. Ice T has made it no secret of how he is disappointed with the new artists out. In 2008, Ice T engaged in hip hop's first internet feud, with Soulja Boy.

During a recent interview with VIBE, Ice T also expressed his disgust in Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. Not all the new artists get under Ice T's skin, however. Focusing back on the East Coast, Ice T has been working with Brooklyn rapper, Knight.

Ice T has given Knight his stamp because he raps about the things which impact the world. Knight said he loves being around Ice T, because he is a good person. While they work together, the two also maintain a strong personal relationship, too.

Knight is working on an EP titled Mid Night Thoughts and the first single is called "Smoovin." The official video for "Smoovin" is in the works and will feature an appearance from Lil Ice, Ice T's son. Knight said he appreciates the veteran advice from Ice T. His EP will be released early in 2012.

Ice T disses Rick Ross and Lil Wayne

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For well over twenty years, Ice T has been in the hip hop scene, as one of the original gangsta rappers. Over the years, Ice T has focused less on the lyrics and more on the movies. Since Ice T's run, many rappers have come and gone. Now, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are among the most popular rappers out there.

While the younger generation looks up to Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, many of the veterans are disgusted. Ice T is among the veterans disgusted with them. On VH1's "Planet Rock: The Story of Crack and Hip Hop," Ice T calls them both out. Ice T's disgust of them comes from his belief of them being fake.

Ice T said Rick Ross stole the name, and lifestyle, of a drug dealer, so he should call him identity theft. Among other things, he and Lil Wayne also fit into the "pop rap" definition. Ice T said rap and pop were two things which never should have mixed. The reason pop and rap were not to mix was because rap was the alternative to pop.

Rick Ross is not the only rapper Ice T thinks is fake, as he brought up their song, "John." Both rappers rhyme about having a "choppa in the car." Speaking on Lil Wayne, Ice T said "yeah right you do." Focusing back on the documentary, Ice T said the entire documentary will be authentic. Ice T admitted he never sold drugs, or anything of that nature. However, many rappers who did will be featured in the documentary.

By The Hip Hop Writer

Soulja Boy has stuck out ever since he entered the game. At the time, hip hop was rendered dead by the legendary Nas. Soulja Boy's music was said to have added to the death. While many artists had negative things to say about Soulja Boy, 50 Cent stuck up for him.

During the summer of 2008, Ice T targeted Soulja Boy and called him out several times. Kanye West spoke up for Soulja Boy, but it was 50 Cent who went the extra mile for the young star. The two collaborated officially for the first time last year.

50 Cent provided a few guest verses on Soulja Boy's "Mean Mug" single. Soulja Boy will be returning the favor on 50 Cent's upcoming fourth album. The album has no title, nor a release date. 50 Cent is also interested in working with Kanye West on the album.
