Juvenile reunties with Mannie Fresh for New Album

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

When Juvenile first rose to fame, he rapped over Mannie Fresh beats and represented Cash Money Records. In 2001, Juvenile left the label, returning for a short time in 2003. Mannie Fresh would leave the label in 2005. For a short while, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh were doing better than Cash Money Records.

However, the explosion of Lil Wayne spawned Young Money, which led to several artists being signed. Now, Cash Money Records is the biggest hip hop record label in the game. While Cash Money still makes hits, the original sound is long gone. Two of the original members of the label are getting back together, though.

Juvenile is currently working on a new album, Rejuvenation, and he is going back to what worked in the past. Mannie Fresh will be providing production for the album. While revisiting the past, Juvenile is working with the stars of the present. His first single, "Power," is produced by Mannie Fresh, yet it features the current boss, Rick Ross.

"Power" will be released sometime next week.

On the Rise: Joey T. Quincy

By The Rap Scout
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The Louisiana hip hop scene is known for powerhouse labels, such as No Limit Records and the current hip hop-leading label, Cash Money Records. While Cash Money is dominating the radio waves, there are other independent record labels in the area.

Joey T. Quincy is the head of a new movement in Louisiana, Street Kingz Entertainment. Quincy is not only the CEO of the label, he is also the flagship artist. Not like most rappers with labels, Quincy has a roster full of talent and he is ready to show them to the world.

Recently, Hip Hop Vibe caught up with Joey T. Quincy and he gave us an interview over the phone. In the interview, Quincy discussed several of his upcoming projects and how he handles his life and his business.

"I don't just have dreams, I go out and get 'em" - Joey T. Quincy.

Read the interview below:

What made you interested in music?
I've been on the scene for four years as an artist on an unsuccessful record label, so I did what was best for myself on a personal and professional level, I launched my own label.

So, you are an artist also?
Yeah, I'm a rapper and I also run a record label. Street Kingz Entertainment has a full roster of talent, including rappers and an R&B singer.

Have you released any albums to date?
No, I have not released any albums yet, but I do have a mixtape out.

Tell us more about Street Kingz Entertainment?
The Street Kingz label was born when I left my old record label and I left, along with two other artists who were signed to the label. Once I set things up, I signed those artists to my Street Kingz Entertainment label.

Who are the other artists signed to Street Kingz Entertainment?
Epic, Dangerous D, Craze-Boi, Q-Tee, and myself under the name J-Slimmm. I have the three m's because I am just that good.

Is it hard managing your own career and running a full label?
At times, it can be hard, but I have a lot of hustle and determination. I have met a lot of people and I will not stop. I know where I want to go and I will not stop until I get there. In order to get what you want out of life, you have to go through struggles, so I welcome the challenge.

Do you feel pressure from the No Limit and Cash Money movements?
No, because I believe in our own talent and our determination. If we had the kind of exposure those two labels have had, we would be dominating the game right now.

How do you go about exposing the Street Kingz music?
I test the music out on all genres. Sometimes, I even play some of our songs for senior citizens and they have embraced the movement. Street Kingz is much more than a rap label, we do it all.

How do you plan on going international?
By using different promotions and branching out into different genres. We also advertise on magazines and I do everything in between to make sure Street Kingz reaches a new fan each day. Truth be told, I'm a hustler.

Have you run across any heavy hitters?
Actually, I have. I work at a casino, so I run into celebrities all of the time. Over the years, I have met Juvenile, Katt Williams, Mystikal, and DeRay Williams. After meeting Katt Williams, we recorded together and he is a funny person on and off the camera. Through hard work and networking, I have met plenty of people, big names and minor ones.

Where do you intend for Street Kingz Entertainment to be ten years from now?
Everywhere. I want to expand into owning restaurants, having clothing lines, and having an overall entertainment company. I see myself as a Russell Simmons-type figure.

Birdman says he is worth more than $100 million

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For years, Birdman has been making money. Twenty years ago, he had made Cash Money Records into a success. The label was very big in the New Orleans local scene. But, when he added superstars, Juvenile, B.G., and Lil Wayne, to the label, the movement went worldwide.

Not too many people have been able to have the success Birdman has enjoyed over the years. Also, not many people have had a run as long as his. Still, for years, he was not making the same kind of money Jay-Z and Diddy were. For two years, he has been trying to challenge Jay-Z.

Recently, Jay-Z responded to his money disses. Birdman has a reason to diss with all the money he has made. He replaced 50 Cent as third behind Diddy and Jay-Z on the Forbes list. The financial magazine announced Birdman's net worth to be $100 million. But, Birdman argues he is worth well over $100 million. While he is almost double this worth, Birdman said he felt honored to finally be on the list.

Turk to launch Record Label upon Prison Release

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Lil Wayne has been the most popular rapper in the game for nearly four years. Along the way, he has built his imprint label, Young Money, into a force. Many big-name rappers have signed with the label.

Turk was signed to Cash Money back when Juvenile was the focus of the label. He was the fourth member of the Hot Boyz, but also left due to beef. Soon, Turk found himself behind bars.

Unlike B.G. and Juvenile, he did not forgive Birdman over the contract dispute. However, rumors stated other wise and had Turk headed to Young Money. Turk decided to address these rumors upon hearing what was being said about him.

While Turk is looking forward to an official Hoy Boyz reunion, he is not close enough to want to return to his former home through Young Money. Instead, when he gets released from prison, Turk will launch his own label, YNT.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The weekend did not go as planned for Juvenile. Over the past few weeks, Juve has been working on new music. Now signed to Rap-A-Lot Records, Juvenile is recording his new album. He has not talked about it, but the label wants him to reunite with his old Cash Money crew.

In 2009, Juvenile reunited with B.G. and Lil Wayne. The three had planned to do more work together. However, their plans were thwarted when Lil Wayne was sent to prison. When he was released, Lil Wayne jumped right back into his own projects and the projects of Young Money.

Outside of the music, Juvenile has caught some unwanted attention. While driving in New Orleans, Juvenile was pulled over and his vehicle was searched. In the car, they found drugs and his suspended license. Both are major offenses and Juvenile was quickly arrested. He was pulled over for doing 75 mph in a 65 mph zone. Juvenile was released on $750 bail.

J. Prince confident in Cash Money reunion

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For years, fans have been wanting The Hot Boyz to reunite, as each member has gone in a different direction. During their peak, Juvenile was the most popular rapper in the crew. B.G. also had strong buzz, but Lil Wayne was nothing more than the sidekick of the crew. Even Turk had more buzz.

Juvenile has been in the game for years and he has gone through several record labels. He started his career with Cash Money Records, but left after a contract dispute. In recent years, Juvenile has been signed to Koch and Atlantic Records and is now with Rap-A-Lot Records.

J. Prince, the head of Rap-A-Lot, is confident he will be able to reunite the Hot Boyz. Now, he has plans of reuniting the entire crew. Juvenile said he was ready to do a reunion album, but Lil Wayne's prison sentence stopped things from happening. J. Prince has plans of talking with Birdman to see if Rap-A-Lot Records and Cash Money Records can unite to become one crew.

While Juvenile's album does not have a title yet, J. Prince is convinced it will be a classic. He wants the entire Cash Money crew to be featured on the album. Prince feels they were family once and they can be family again. Because he, Birdman, and Slim are all businessmen, J. Prince thinks they can work something out to have the entire crew on the next Juvenile album.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

In 2003, Juvenile returned to Cash Money Records, but he also established his UTP Records' label and the group. For their project, he set up a business deal with Rap-A-Lot Records. The group released their first and only album, The Beginning of the End, through Rap-A-Lot.

Soon, Juvenile cut ties with both Cash Money and Rap-A-Lot to focus on his own career. Soon, he had established a distribution deal with Koch Records. After spending a few years with Koch, the UTP label was relocated to Atlantic Records. Juvenile released three albums under Atlantic.

Juvenile is following up 2009's Cocky & Confident with a new album on Rap-A-Lot Records. J. Prince, the head of the label, has reached out to Lil Wayne and B.G. He wants the former members of the Hot Boyz to team up with Juvenile for his lead single. In 2009, the three rappers teamed up for a song on B.G.'s Too Hood 2 B Hollywood.
