Juvenile reunties with Mannie Fresh for New Album
By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer
When Juvenile first rose to fame, he rapped over Mannie Fresh beats and represented Cash Money Records. In 2001, Juvenile left the label, returning for a short time in 2003. Mannie Fresh would leave the label in 2005. For a short while, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh were doing better than Cash Money Records.
However, the explosion of Lil Wayne spawned Young Money, which led to several artists being signed. Now, Cash Money Records is the biggest hip hop record label in the game. While Cash Money still makes hits, the original sound is long gone. Two of the original members of the label are getting back together, though.
Juvenile is currently working on a new album, Rejuvenation, and he is going back to what worked in the past. Mannie Fresh will be providing production for the album. While revisiting the past, Juvenile is working with the stars of the present. His first single, "Power," is produced by Mannie Fresh, yet it features the current boss, Rick Ross.
"Power" will be released sometime next week. Read more...

Mannie Fresh gives opinion on New Cash Money Records
By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer
Eighteen years ago, Mannie Fresh became a part of the local New Orleans record label, Cash Money Records. At the time, Cash Money was big, but only on a local scale. Many felt as if the label was a major success, but they did not see what would happen next.
Behind Mannie Fresh's beats, Cash Money Records gained national fame. In 1997, they were picked up, enterting a multimillion dollar deal with Universal Records, a major label. From there, things went from good to great with Cash Money Records.
However, the run would come to an untimely end, when integral members of the team left the label. Lil Wayne was left as the only remaining artist when Birdman decided it was time to put the pieces back together. But, right before recording for Tha Carter II began, there was more shocking news, Mannie Fresh was also leaving the label.
The success of Tha Carter II kept Cash Money Records going and Lil Wayne soon became the biggest rapper on the planet. Wayne used his appeal to start Young Money Entertainment and he eventually signed many talents, namely Drake and Nicki Minaj. Through the success of Young Money and the addition of the ever-popular DJ Khaled, Cash Money Records has risen to new heights. With the current success of the label, many are interested in how Mannie Fresh feels about Cash Money Records.
Previously, he said he was open to returning to the label, if the deal was right. While Mannie Fresh is happy for Cash Money's recent string of success, he has issues with their new sound. Their original sound became a staple with New Orleans hip hop, as it was crafted by Fresh. Mannie Fresh said Cash Money is still putting out original sounds, but they are also using a lot of music that sounds the same. The only problem with the current Southern hitmakers is their music all sounds alike, according to Mannie Fresh.
Mannie Fresh feels as if it is time for the South to come up with some new sounds. Read more...

Mystikal prepares New Album
By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer
Ten years ago, Mystikal was finally achieving what he had worked so hard to attain. At the time, the six year rap veteran had been struggling for recognition. But, his 2000 single, "Shake Ya Ass," put him on top of the rap world. From there, everything he touched was a hit.
Following the success of his 2000 album, Mystikal returned with his Tarantula album in 2001. The album was successful, but not on the level of his previous release. Early in 2002, "Bumpin me against The Wall" became the biggest hit off the album. Soon, his ride would be over.
Mystikal had plans of releasing another album in 2002, but his legal woes stopped that from happening. He faced rape charges and went to prison in 2003. The New Orleans rapper would spend the next six years behind bars until his release in January 2010. Upon being released, Mystikal wanted to do so much, but he had to focus on rebuilding his personal life.
Now, with everything back in perspective, Mystikal has started working on his new album. The album will be his first release in ten years. With such a gap in releases, Mystikal realizes he cannot come out flat with this new release. The New Orleans rapper has teamed up with fellow New Orleans act, Mannie Fresh, to produce his newest album. With all of the talent in the city of New Orleans, Mystikal feels he does not have to go outside of the city to complete his untitled new album. Read more...

By The Hip Hop Writer

Five years after Kanye West called George W. Bush out during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Bush spoke out. He said the comments made by Kanye West hurt him. Bush also said that was the lowest point in his presidency.
Kanye West and the former president communicated through the media for months. West apologized for his remark, saying that is how it seemed. Bush made it clear he did and does care about black people.
After his controversy with Taylor Swift, Kanye West said he knows how Bush felt during that time. Kanye West has since returned to the top of the rap game. During the first week of sales, his comeback album went platinum.
Former Cash Money Records producer, Mannie Fresh, recently spoke out to Kanye West. Despite getting off relatively easy for most of his comments, he told him he should consider other people's feelings. The only time Kanye West really stopped to think was after the Taylor Swift incident. Mannie Fresh said Kanye could be in a mess if he ever messed up on his taxes with all the trash he talks.
