In the past, Jim Jones has had feuds with Jay-Z and Kanye West over the 2004 Roc-A-Fella breakup. When the Roc was at its best, the label added Cam'ron and his Diplomat imprint. The deal, however, was not approved by Jay-Z. The addition of Cam'ron and his crew led to the split.
Jim Jones, at the time, was nothing more than the businessman of the crew. He was Cam'ron's sidekick the way Dame Dash had been for so long to Jay-Z. But, after watching Jay-Z operate, Jim Jones began taking rap seriously. His goal was to break Jay-Z down and win a feud against him.
In 2006, Jim Jones had a breakout year and he used his hit, "We Fly High," to take aim at Jay-Z. The song earned a response from Jay-Z, but he did not respond after that. His album sales spoke for itself and the fans eventually turned on Jim Jones. Over the years, Jones also began dissing Kanye West, but never earned a true reply from Mr. West.
Last year, Kanye West reached out to Cam'ron and Jim Jones. Their meeting led to an immediate end to the long-standing feud. While they ended their beef with Kanye, the two still have hard feelings for Jay-Z. Still, they give credit where credit is due. Each time Cam'ron talks about Jay-Z, he says he is one of the best rappers ever and he is an great businessman. Recently, Jim Jones joined the praise saying Jay-Z is one of the best ever, but Kanye West is also a beast.
With their Watch the Throne album on the way, Jim Jones spoke from a fan's perspective. He said Jay-Z is still a beast, but in their recent recordings, Kanye West has been getting the best verses. If the album is like their music on "G.O.O.D. Fridays," Kanye West will emerge from the album as the better rapper out of the two. Jim Jones said he cannot wait for the album to be released, as he will definitely buy it and he will be bumping it for a while.
