Lil' Kim calls out Atlantic Records over Lack of Promotion

When it became clear Atlantic Records was not going to release the comeback album, Vintage, from Lil' Kim, she decided to take matters into her own hands. In the 1990s, Lil' Kim made a lot of money for Atlantic Records. But, when her popularity began to wane, they stopped focusing on her, marketing popular acts, such as T.I.

Last year, Lil' Kim officially left Atlantic Records and began working on new music independently. In recent months, Lil' Kim has been using Nicki Minaj as inspiration. Her success has led to Kim opening a high-profile feud, which has helped re-spark her career. Each time she is in the media, Lil' Kim jabs at Nicki.

The Brooklyn femcee was dissing again, but it was Atlantic Records this time. She decided to open up on why she left the label. Having been with the label since 1996, Lil' Kim expected great treatment. Instead, the label tossed her around and forced her to do most of her promotion on her own for her last two albums. The success the last two albums had was because of her and her only.

Lil' Kim admitted she has been off Atlantic Records since her prison release. She said she has been her own boss for a long time now and said "the other girl" may answer to a boss, but she does not. Even though she loves being independent, Lil' Kim said she is not opposed to signing with another major label if the deal sounds right to her.
