Wale talks Kid Cudi and Rick Ross' health

By The Hip Hop Writer

With his album, Ambition, coming soon, Wale has been all over the news. But, to be fair, Wale has been in the news ever since he confirmed his deal with Maybach Music. Rick Ross boasted about probably signing Wale. Then, three months later, Wale signed to his label.

During this period of time, Wale was feuding with Kid Cudi. The two rappers had actually been good friends. But, following the release of their respective debut albums, a beef emerged. Recently, the two ended their feud and reunited. Their reunion was official when they collaborated on their upcoming albums.

Wale recently broke his silence on his Kid Cudi collaboration. The song is called "Focused" and it was released last week. Wale said that track is simply a celebration of their success. Not only is it a celebration of their success, but also a celebration of their renewed friendship. Wale said he has managed to maintain his style since signing to Maybach Music.

Speaking of Maybach Music, everyone immediately wanted to discuss Rick Ross. This past weekend was very rough on the boss. Rick Ross suffered from two seizures this weekend, but Wale said he is doing 100% better.

Album Preview: Wale - "Ambition"

Two years have passed since Wale released Attention Deficit. The release of his debut album showed Wale's rise from the underground to becoming a real force in the game. Before Wale, the Washington, DC hip hop scene was basically nonexistent.

While Attention Deficit was met with rave reviews, the album was a commercial flop. Interscope Records was the label behind the album release. Disappointed with the reaction to his album, Wale found a way to get off the label.

Throughout 2010, Wale was a free agent, hoping to get signed to another major label. Rick Ross, who had already tried to sign Wiz Khalifa, said he may sign Wale to Maybach Music. Known for boasting, many took the comments by Rick Ross as nothing more than him talking big. However, early in 2011, Wale announced he had signed with Maybach Music.

During the promotional run for the Maybach Music album, Wale announced he had a new album of his own in the works, possibly two. So far, three singles have been released from the album, "Bad Girls Club," "Chain Music," and "Lotus Flower Bomb." Wale plans to continue with the themes of his debut album, while adding the flavor of his new crew, as well.

Wale's current radio hit, "That Way," will be featured on Ambition.

Track listing

  1. "Don't Hold Your Applause"

Following his short time at Interscope Records, Wale decided to leave the label. Rick Ross said he was considering signing Wale to his own Maybach Music label. Not many people took Rick Ross' comments seriously. But, in only a matter of months, Wale became the latest addition to Maybach Music.

Maybach Music, itself, was angling to be signed. After adding a large number of artists to the label, a bidding war took place. Several labels lined up to add Maybach Music to their roster. Birdman made the premature announcement of adding Maybach Music to his already-large, Cash Money Records.

In the end, Rick Ross decided to do business with Warner Bros. and released the label's first album in May. Now, Wale is preparing his second album, Ambition. Coming in less than a month, Wale is working with a number of artists on his new album. Most of these artists are R&B artists, as Wale wants more soul on his new album.

While the "Ambition" track features his Maybach Music label-mates, Rick Ross and Meek Mill, the album features appearances from Ne-Yo, Lloyd, and Miguel. Former rival, Kid Cudi will also be featured on the new album.

Following a short stint with Interscope Records, Wale ended up signing with Rick Ross' Maybach Music. Out of nowhere, Ross has taken over the rap game. Known for boasting, many did not believe Rick Ross when he said he may sign Wale. A few months later, Maybach Music is among the biggest movements.

Currently, Wale is putting the finishing touches on Ambition, his debut under Maybach Music. On his new album, Wale has production from DJ Toomp, Tone P, Tha Bizness, among other producers. Wale said this new project is one of those overall solid releases.

Wale says he has a number of songs he wants his fans to hear and he also discussed his future. While Mark Ronson worked with Wale on his Attention Deficit debut, he is absent on his latest album. Wale promised fans he would reunite with Mark Ronson in the future.

When they were both establishing themselves in the game, Wale and Kid Cudi relied on each other. Early in their respective careers, the two rappers were close. However, following the release of their respective 2009 debut albums, a feud began between the two rappers.

During an interview, Kid Cudi made a negative statement towards his former friend. From there, Wale called Kid Cudi out and the feud began. Having exchanged disses for nearly a year, the two decided to patch things up. Wale and Kid Cudi had a Twitter exchange, which led to a phone call.

Following the phone call, the two rappers became friends again and are working together again. Wale recruited Kid Cudi for a track on his Ambition album. The new song is called "Focused" and it will be the first collaboration (of many) since Wale and Kid Cudi decided to end their nearly year-long beef.
