Album Preview: Wale - "Ambition"

By Hardcore Critic
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Two years have passed since Wale released Attention Deficit. The release of his debut album showed Wale's rise from the underground to becoming a real force in the game. Before Wale, the Washington, DC hip hop scene was basically nonexistent.

While Attention Deficit was met with rave reviews, the album was a commercial flop. Interscope Records was the label behind the album release. Disappointed with the reaction to his album, Wale found a way to get off the label.

Throughout 2010, Wale was a free agent, hoping to get signed to another major label. Rick Ross, who had already tried to sign Wiz Khalifa, said he may sign Wale to Maybach Music. Known for boasting, many took the comments by Rick Ross as nothing more than him talking big. However, early in 2011, Wale announced he had signed with Maybach Music.

During the promotional run for the Maybach Music album, Wale announced he had a new album of his own in the works, possibly two. So far, three singles have been released from the album, "Bad Girls Club," "Chain Music," and "Lotus Flower Bomb." Wale plans to continue with the themes of his debut album, while adding the flavor of his new crew, as well.

Wale's current radio hit, "That Way," will be featured on Ambition.

Track listing

  1. "Don't Hold Your Applause"
  2. "Double M Genius"
  3. "Miami Nights"
  4. "Legendary"
  5. "Lotus Flower Bomb" ft. Miguel
  6. "Sabotage" ft. Lloyd
  7. "White Linen (Coolin')" ft. Ne-Yo
  8. "Slight Work" ft. Big Sean
  9. "Ambition" ft. Meek Mill and Rick Ross
10. "Illest Bitch"
11. "No Days Off"

50 Cent shooting video for "Girls Go Wild"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Despite his problems with Interscope Records, 50 Cent announced he would release his album in November. In the past, 50 Cent has made statements like this. His previous album, Before I Self Destruct, was seemingly shelved before its release.

Things have appeared the same way for 50 Cent's latest album. After making his announcement, 50 Cent released several new tracks. Some of the tracks released by 50 Cent will be a part of his new film, Real Steel... Last year, 50 Cent landed a major movie deal with Lionsgate.

Now, with his hand in another profitable pot, 50 Cent is going back to what made him famous. His next single is called "Girls Go Wild" and it features his favorite R&B man, Jeremih. The video is currently in the works, as 50 Cent's closest associates have been talking about it via Twitter. There is no set release date for the video, but it is coming soon.

On his past few albums, Rick Ross has been loading up on the big-name guest appearances. Now a big name, himself, Ross is able to land more features on his albums. Ross and his Maybach team recently completed their Warner Bros. debut, Self Made.

Much like 2010's Teflon Don, the new album is filled with big-name guest appearances. J. Cole, Diddy, Drake, Jeremih, and Curren$y, along with many others are featured on the album. For two years, Rick Ross has been rising in the game.

Late in 2009, Rick Ross and Diddy began hanging out on a social level. By late 2010, the two said they were close as brothers. The boss has also built a strong relationship with Drake. Drake was featured on his last album and also on his "Made Men" single.
