Yesterday, major news broke regarding the ongoing feud between female rappers, Nicki Minaj and Lil' Kim. After trading disses for nearly six months, the ladies agreed to end their feud. However, today, a new track from Nicki Minaj sounds very contradicting.
Lil' Kim attempted to broker peace with Nicki Minaj during the fall season of 2010. She said she would no longer release records disrespecting Nicki Minaj. One week after the announcement, Nicki released her "Roman's Revenge" record, re-igniting the feud.
However, this time around, Nicki Minaj and Lil' Kim met in person to settle their differences. Members of both their crews said it would be beneficial to make peace. Both women even said they had much respect for the other.
This is why Nicki Minaj's new song, "Tragedy," comes off as such as surprise. Nicki Minaj calls Lil' Kim out, comparing her career to the popularity of Shaquille O'Neal and Penny Hardaway of the Orlando Magic during the 1990s. She says Kim is like the present-day version of Shaq and Penny. Nicki also taunts Kim for using PayPal to sell copies of her Black Friday mixtape.
Funkmaster Flex assumes the lyrics will be a part of Nicki Minaj's verse on Tha Carter IV.
