Snoop Dogg talks "Detox" and Eminem

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For well over a decade, there has been a lot of discussion about the long-awaited Detox album from Dr. Dre. Among the closest people to Dr. Dre while recording have been Game, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar. After releasing two albums in two years, Eminem is apparently on hiatus, as he is also very close to Dr. Dre.

Recently, Kendrick Lamar discussed Detox, informing the people the album was in its mixing phases. For well over ten years, the album has been coming "very soon." Seven years ago, Eminem rapped of the album possibly coming in 2006. Last fall and this winter, fans came the closest to hearing Detox.

After "Kush" and "I Need a Doctor" faded away, the Detox stories did too. Snoop Dogg was asked about Detox and he said the album would be here soon enough. According to Snoop Dogg, the album is nearing completion and Eminem will be a part of the album. While Snoop Dogg said Eminem would be a part of the album, he did not explain how much of a part he would contribute.

Soopafly discusses "Detox," Dr. Dre, and Tha Dogg Pound

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Despite being a veteran in the game, Soopafly is often overlooked. He has produced many hits, but he has managed to stay well behind the scenes. While many fans may not know him, the big names do.

When he first began working on Detox, Dr. Dre reached out to Soopafly. Recently, Soopafly announced he would be working on Detox again. In an interview with HipHopDX.com, he revealed Dr. Dre called him to come in.

Even though Soopafly has been talking with Dr. Dre, he said his work has yet to even appear. Due to Dr. Dre's perfectionist manner, he is not sure if his work will appear. Soopafly also revealed he helped produce "Ring Ding Dong" among other hits.

During his time with Dr. Dre, Soopafly began working with Daz Dillinger. Soon, Soopafly was no longer working with Dre, at all. The legend revealed Dr. Dre had actually fired him and he met Kurupt and he later met Daz Dillinger. With them, he had more to do, as Dr. Dre took over most of the production, himself, so there was nothing for Soopafly to do with Dr. Dre.

It was after recording Tha Dogg Pound's "What Would You Do?," when they realized how strong their chemistry was. From there, Soopafly produced more tracks for Tha Dogg Pound. On his own solo album, called Best Kept Secret, Soopafly has kept some of the best tracks for himself. Soopafly revealed he had given so many good tracks away, he decided to keep all of the new ones to himself.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Yesterday, "Martians vs. Goblins" leaked to the internet. The song is to be featured on Game's long-awaited The R.E.D. Album. Game featured Lil Wayne and Tyler, the Creator on the new song. On the record, they call out several media personalities.

Tyler, the Creator has replaced Eminem as the most-controversial rapper in the game. Tyler rose to fame behind his "Yonkers" single. On the track, Tyler takes aim at B.o.B. and Bruno Mars. The track earned him a response from Bobby Ray and Bruno Mars laughed it off.

On every track he is on, Tyler, the Creator says something controversial. Most recently, he collaborated with Game on "Martians vs. Goblins." It did not take long before Tyler, the Creator took more shots at Bruno Mars, "saying Bruno Mars is still getting fucked in the ass." Tyler, the Creator did not solely focus on Bruno Mars, however. He also aimed at filmmaker, Tyler Perry, saying the encounter took place in the closet Tyler Perry was in.

To round out the song, Tyler, the Creator pokes fun at Miami Heat star, LeBron James,' hairline and Game also pokes fun at James. In Game's line, he jokes about having sex with James' mother and Delonte West filming it. Game's line was a reference to the rumors of LeBron James' mother having sex with Delonte West during the 2010 NBA Playoffs. Back to Tyler, the Creator, he also mentions Nicki Minaj and the frequent delays of Dr. Dre's album, Detox.

Dr. Dre to appear on "The R.E.D. Album"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

The reason fans did not receive Game's long-awaited album, The R.E.D. Album, sooner, was because Dr. Dre wanted to work on it. Only months before the official release of the album, Game and Dr. Dre reunited. Because of this, Game's album had to be slightly altered.

What was supposed to be only a few months' wait turned out to be two years. Game is currently preparing to release his album within a month. With the album's release right around the corner, Game has a big announcement. Not only is Dr. Dre providing production, he will also be rapping.

Fans have been waiting a long time on Game's album, but the wait for Dr. Dre's own album, Detox, spans Game's entire career and then some. Even after the release of The R.E.D. Album, all fans will have from Detox is "I Need a Doctor," "Chillin'," and "Die Hard." After heavy promotion towards the end of both 2008 and 2010, Dr. Dre has still delayed what he says will be his final album.

50 Cent talks Eminem and Dr. Dre

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

When the world was first introduced to 50 Cent, he was the protege of Eminem and Dr. Dre. 50 Cent portrayed the image of a fearless street gangster. During an interview, 50 Cent was asked what he feared the most. His answer was not living up to the standards Eminem and Dr. Dre set for him.

Fast forward three years, 50 Cent openly called out Dr. Dre for the first time. 50 Cent's album was delayed because it was taking a long time for Dr. Dre to mix his album. Then, in 2009, 50 Cent dissed Dr. Dre when his next album was delayed. Earlier this year, it seemed as if their feud had reached a peak.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, 50 Cent and Dr. Dre have seemingly made up with each other. Late in May 2011, 50 Cent revealed he would be featured on Detox. Recently, 50 Cent said he is considering staying with Interscope Records after his contract expires. Despite the rift becoming public, all is well between 50 Cent and Dr. Dre.

50 Cent said he never expected someone like Eminem to come into his life. Already rich, off of his music, Em decided to help 50 Cent out. The result of this was 50 Cent meeting Dr. Dre and "In Da Club" coming to life right before his eyes. While 50 Cent may not like some of the things Dr. Dre does, he cannot forget how Dre helped him start his career, which allowed him to become the mogul he is.

Dr. Dre ends 50 Cent feud, G-Unit leader joins "Detox"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For years, there were rumors of a closet feud between Dr. Dre and 50 Cent. These rumors began when 50 Cent kicked Game out of G-Unit and Dr. Dre soon released him from Aftermath. The story was told over the next few years.

When his album, Curtis, did not fare so well, 50 Cent placed the blame upon Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. 50 Cent began sending several light disses to Dr. Dre. At times, 50 spoke publicly on the feud, but said he would never directly diss Dr. Dre.

This March, 50 Cent revealed Dr. Dre was upset over his headphone line. This is something Dr. Dre denied before calling out an unnamed rival in "I Need a Doctor." Some speculated he was actually going after 50 Cent.

Recent news, however, has proven otherwise. 50 Cent has been invited, by Dr. Dre to record on Detox, the album which will house "I Need a Doctor." No solid release date for the album, or song, has been released to the public.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Three years ago, Jay-Z announced he was leaving the record label he helped create, Roc-A-Fella Records. While leaving his label, Jay-Z was launching another, Roc Nation. Before the end of the year, he announced the first two artists on the label, J. Cole and Fiend.

Unlike J. Cole, Fiend had a history in the rap game. For years, Fiend was a member of No Limit Records. While representing the tank, Fiend became acquainted with Snoop Dogg. Through Snoop Dogg, he was introduced to Dr. Dre.

These connections still hold true, as Fiend addressed his current status with both Jay-Z and Dr. Dre. He said everything was ready to go regarding Roc Nation. But, his lawyer never drew up the paperwork, so the deal never went through.

While not going into great detail, Fiend revealed he has been invited to record with Dr. Dre on Detox.

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Following the commercial and critical success of L.A.X., Game was ready to move into a new phase. Ever since being banished from G-Unit, Game was hoping to get back in Dr. Dre's good graces. His post-G-Unit albums were filled with pleas for Dre to hear him out.

But, The R.E.D. Album was going to be different, as Game focused more on his own career. Game was going to officially step up as the King of L.A. with this album. Recording began early in 2009. The album's official release was supposed to be right before the end of 2009.

Game wrapped the album up early and was thinking of releasing it ahead of time. But, a chance meeting with Snoop Dogg led to him changing directions in his entire career. While recording with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg felt one of the beats would be perfect for Game and he invited Game to record. Right then, Game and Dr. Dre settled their beef and Game returned to Aftermath Entertainment.

For over a year, Game has been back home and Dr. Dre has been putting the finishing touches on Detox, his final album. But, Game has been waiting for over two years to put his album out. Dr. Dre told Game to delay the album because he wanted to rework it. Dr. Dre's busy schedule keeps him from doing most of what he plans to and Game says it is the reason his album did not come out sooner. DJ Khalil speaks on Dr. Dre

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

With Dr. Dre preparing the release of Detox, many have been talking about the famed rapper/producer. Throughout his career, Dr. Dre has been viewed as an intimidating force. He began his professional career with NWA and Ruthless Records before launching the most dangerous record label in history, Death Row Records.

In his later years, Dr. Dre created Aftermath Entertainment and has made less-aggressive music. It has been during the Aftermath years that people have started to respect his legacy. The only controversy that came on Aftermath was with Ja Rule. But, the two have managed to settle their differences.

DJ Khalil has had the chance to work closely with Dr. Dre. He knows him on a personal level. Still, there are some people who fear Dre, but DJ Khalil says people have nothing to worry about. He said Dr. Dre is the most humble person he has ever met, even with his legacy.

While Dr. Dre is very confident, DJ Khalil says he is not cocky. Just because he has made major accomplishments, Dr. Dre is still open to new ideas. Khalil said he once visited Dr. Dre and saw him performing classical music on a piano. He went on to say, Dr. Dre may be a gangsta rap pioneer, but he is a fan of music first and foremost.

Game prepares to release "Red Nation"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For nearly two years, Game has been preparing for the release of his fourth album, The R.E.D. Album. Game said it would be his best lyrical effort, yet. On this album, Game was preparing to start the second phase of his career. Towards the end of 2009, his album was going to see the light of day.

But, Snoop Dogg managed to pull of the impossible, which stopped the album from being released. While working with Dr. Dre on his long-awaited Detox, Snoop suggested he bring Game in. Dre was not opposed to working with game. Snoop Dogg soon arranged a meeting and the two quickly got to work.

Because Dr. Dre wanted to work on The R.E.D. Album, it was delayed until March 2010. Throughout last year, release dates came and went without an album. Game has promoted several songs and they eventually ended up on mixtapes. This led to a minor dispute with RZA, early last month. In January, Game revealed he was close to done with his long-awaited album.

Recently, Game announced the release of "Red Nation," the song is rumored to be the first official single released from The R.E.D. Album. The Cool & Dre-produced single is said by Game to be released within the first two to three weeks.

Ever since his 2007 album, Curtis, did worse than expected, 50 Cent has had problems with Jimmy Iovine. When 2009's Before I Self Destruct was held up because of Dr. Dre, 50 Cent called him out.

Even with everything going on Dr. Dre intended to reunite his former proteges on his Detox album. But, 50 Cent released a statement dissing both of his bosses. After the story has flooded the internet, 50 Cent is trying to downplay the madness. He said he still has love for Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Without them and Eminem, he does not know where he would be right now, as he was having trouble getting signed. 50 Cent said he spoke with Jimmy Iovine and the two quickly ended their beef. Two years ago, Game was expected to release The R.E.D. Album and begin focusing on adding talent to his label. Following the release of the successful, L.A.X., Game had finally faced reality. He was prepared to move on with his career without mentioning Dr. Dre.

Initially, Game planned to release the album in December 2009, when he received the shock of his life. Snoop Dogg had been working with Dr. Dre on Detox when he realized one of the beats was perfect for Game. Snoop later invited Game to their session.

Slowly approaching the two year mark and Game has become an afterthought in the hip hop world. Game boasted of how his album would be a classic whenever it was released. When Dr. Dre split from Ruthless Records, he and The D.O.C. teamed up with Suge Knight to launch Death Row Records. D.O.C. was responsible for most of Dre's lyrics on The Chronic. Dr. Dre has counted on The D.O.C. most of his career.

Game had originally planned to release The R.E.D. Album during the summer of 2009. Each time Game prepared to release an album, he always said Dr. Dre was going to produce on the album. But, after receiving no reply from Dre in 2008, Game moved on with his career.

Dre listened to a part of The R.E.D. Album and began reworking it. But, due to his schedule, he had to stop working on it, delaying the album.

In the time since, Game has worked with Pharrell, DJ Premier, and many other big names. With the album 95% done, Game said he is going to wait to release it. 50 Cent talks Dr. Dre and "Detox"

By The Hip Hop Writer
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Dr. Dre first announced Detox when 50 Cent was still in Queens, considering becoming a rapper. With the release of the album right around the corner, 50 Cent has been a rap heavyweight and now a media personality. Through it all, 50 Cent has been one of the most-successful Dr. Dre proteges.

In 2009, there were rumors of a 50 Cent/Dr. Dre feud. 50 Cent was waiting to release Before I Self Destruct and Dr. Dre had not finished his tracks. While 50 was waiting, Dre had helped Eminem with his entire album. When the album was finally released, 50 Cent called out his mentor for signing his rival, Game, back to the label.

One year ago, around this time, it looked as if things were going to get ugly between the two. But, Dr. Dre said he and 50 Cent have no problems and will be working together. Despite 50 Cent being in the process of leaving Shady Records, having left Aftermath in 2009, he will still be working with Dr. Dre as he finishes Detox.

It is unclear if 50 Cent will appear on the album, as Game is also heavily involved. Still, 50 Cent reminded fans not to count Dr. Dre out. Right when it appeared as if 50 Cent's career may not take off, his Dre-produced single, "In da Club," would top the charts from January well into the summer. 50 Cent said if Dr. Dre was able to do that for him, imagine what he would be able to do with his own material.
